Kalyani&nbsp;family&nbsp;promoted Bharat Forge has received an order worth over Rs 177 cr from the Indian Ministry of Defence. This order which is&nbsp;placed as emergency procurement from the Army is for the supply of Kalyani M4 vehicles.

ATAGS Mishap

The Artillery Field Rationalisation Plan is to acquire 2,800-3,000 155 mm/52-calibre guns of all kinds and 155 mm/39-calibre lightweight howitzers by 2027. These include 814 truck-mounted guns, 1,580 towed guns and 180 wheeled self-propelled guns. As part of the &lsquo;Make in India&rsquo; initiative and indigenisation, the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has designed and&nbsp; developed the 155mm/52mm calibre Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) project in conjunction with Kalyani Group, Tata Power and OFB. The ATAGS project was started in 2013 with production scheduled to begin in 2019. The project was delayed earlier during the development cycle, with issues in the gun system&rsquo;s recoil systems and delays in the manufacture of sub systems. DRDO had partnered with Bharat Forge and Tata Power Strategic Engineering Division for the project, with the understanding that orders would be divided between the two companies after successful trials.
