While Bengaluru struggled to keep afloat after the first round of torrential rains hit India’s Silicon Valley on August 30, a city doctor is winning praise online for going out of the way to help his patient.  
Doctor Govind Nandkumar, a gastroenterology surgeon at Manipal Hospitals  was supposed to perform a crucial surgery when he got stuck in the city’s infamous traffic, this time caused due to heavy waterlogging and flooding. 
Realising the fact that the delay might deteriorate the condition of his patient who was prepped for the surgery, doctor Nandkumar left his car in the middle of the traffic and ran towards the hospital, that was around 3 kms away from the  Sarjapur-Marathalli stretch where he was stuck. 
Speaking to NDTV, doctor Nandkumar said "I left home well in time for the surgery. Looking at the huge traffic, I decided to leave the car with the driver and ran towards the hospital without thinking twice," 
Doctor Nandkumar’s team that was waiting for him in the operating room sprung into action as soon as he arrived at the hospital. 
Fortunately enough, with doctor Nandkumar’s unusual decision to sprint to the hospital, the procedure was conducted successfully. 
Dr Nandkumar works as Consultant - Gastroenterology at Manipal Hospitals and has successfully performed more than 1000 procedures.

Tejasvi Surya, BJP's Bengaluru South Lok Sabha member was slammed and trolled by a section of social media users accusing him of relishing dosa and promoting an eatery in his constituency, when many parts of the city have been reeling under torrential rains and floods.
A 40-second video shared by Congress’ national social media coordinator Lavanya Ballal shows Surya eating 'Butter Masala Dosa' and 'Uppittu' at an eatery in Padmanabhanagar and praising its quality and taste. In the now viral video, the National President of BJP Yuva Morcha is also heard recommending it to people asking them to come and taste the food at the eatery. 
Several Twitter users including actress and former Congress MP Ramya have shared Surya's video online.
While several social media users criticised Tejasvi Surya, several supported him saying that many parts in his constituency are not affected in the Bengaluru deluge. 
Karnataka's capital city is facing severe flooding after unprecedented rainfall. From roads to basements, two zones of Bengaluru are submerged due to waterlogging.

Amid heavy rains that have prompted waterlogging across Bengaluru, a 23-year-old woman died due to electrocution while returning from work on Monday night. The woman was riding back home on a two-wheeler which accidentally came in contact with a live electric pole in Siddapura are, police said on Tuesday.
The witnesses revealed that on reaching the stretch of a road that was waterlogged, the lady's vehicle broke down and she lost balance. As she was trying to regain balance to move ahead, she is said to have touched an electric pole nearby for support and got electrocuted.She was rushed the woman to a hospital, where she reportedly succumbed.
The deceased was working in the admin department of a private school.Meanwhile, the Police is investigating the matter

In the wake of flooding in Bengaluru, several private schools have declared holidays while others have switched to online classes until the situation gets better. Companies too have suggested employees work from home.
According to reports, the centre of India&rsquo;s IT industry has received the highest rainfall in the last 42 years.
Adding to the woes, an alert for heavy rains in the north and south interior Karnataka over the next four days has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department.

"Who needs a wonderla, a water amusement park when entire #bangalore can we be water park! Thanks for #bbmp , it takes lot of efforts and dedication to turn a city into a floating city!" a twitter user going by the name "anonymous!@Died_Democracy" said in a tweet.
Anirban Sanyal, another twitter user, shared a picture of a water-logged city airport, and had a swipe at the state of infrastructure.
"State of affairs in #BengaluruAirport today. I feel like crying seeing the state of infra in India. This is beyond shame," he said in a tweet.
Karma@iambhutia touched upon the 40 per cent commission charge against the ruling BJP.
"When contractors have to pay 40% cost of project as bribe to the ministers and officers - this is what you get," the user said, while uploading a picture of vehicles wading through an inundated road.
IT industry veteran TV Mohan Das Pai uploaded a video, titled "Pls see in Bengaluru," showing a man dressed up as Lord Ganesh and wading through near knee-deep water, even as traffic was seen crawling in the background. A number of twitter users responded to him, most speaking out against the lack of infrastructure in the city.
While a twitter user, Rajiva Bhushan Sahay blamed "massive deforestation" and road heights going up "illegally" with "illegal" high rises, another handle on the micro-blogging site, Chris_cruz@lycos.com felt the only solution is to reclaim all lakes and remove encroachments.
There were some hilarious and sarcastic posts too.
For instance, a twitter handle with the name Gautam (@gautyou) said the tractors were back in posh layouts like Sunny Brooks and suggested resident welfare associations to invest in these vehicles as an alternative mode of transport during rains while @CitizenKamran, another twitter user, 'thanked' Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for turning the city to "European Standards." "Indiranagar has started to look like Venice," he sarcastically remarked.
Chetan Krishna @ckchetanck said, "thanks to bbmp and @BJP4Karnataka now every apartment in Bengaluru is a lake view apartment.
A number of users complained about the lack of focus on building proper infrastructure over the years for a city that hosts world's top IT companies.
Other social media were also flooded with videos and memes on the Bengaluru floods.&nbsp;
