Snowfall and rain had triggered a landslide on the Badrinath national highway on April 30 as well, disrupting the yatra to the Kedarnath temple for nine hours.&nbsp;
On May 1, &nbsp;authorities issued an appeal to Chardham pilgrims to proceed on their journey only after taking necessary precautions as intermittent snowfall and rain continued at the Himalayan temples of Badrinath and Kedarnath.&nbsp;

It is reportedly used by pilgrims returning from Badrinath, and passes through the main market in Joshimath.

The threat of land subsidence continues to haunt Uttarakhand with fresh cracks being reported, this time on a key highway.
Fissures have now developed on a stretch of road along the Badrinath highway, amid preparations for the Char Dham Yatra, and announcement of dates for opening of portals of the Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri shrines.
Cracks have appeared on the road between Joshimath and Marwari, according to reports.
It is reportedly used by pilgrims returning from Badrinath, and passes through the main market in Joshimath, which has seen damage to hundreds of houses, and displacement of dozens of families due to sinking of land.

Scary videos of the incident showed a heavy shower of mud, rocks, and trees. The landslide continued for around 30 seconds. A video showed a group of people standing near the spot as the road was rapidly blocked off.
Around a week earlier, multiple landslides had been reported from the hill state amid heavy rain. The rockslides had led to closure of over 70 roads in Uttarakhand.
On 29 June, a woman was killed and 5 other people were injured in a landslide on Kedarnath road. The mishap took place near Sonprayag on the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund National Highway, as per reports.
The landslide hit a vehicle with 11 passengers. The victims had been returning from Kedarnath.
