Former wrestler and Dronacharya Awardee Mahavir Phogat expressed his belief that the people of the country will overthrow the current government just as they did with British rule.
According to an India Today report, Mahavir, speaking at his village Balali in Haryana, emphasised that the government will face the consequences if they don't act against former WFI Chief Brijbhushan.
He said, &ldquo;I made my daughters worthy of medals by risking everything. Today, look at how they are being treated. Sadly, the players had to take the decision to throw their medals into the Ganga. Farmer leaders understood their sentiments and now the whole country will unite in such a way that the government will have to bow down. If the government does not take initiative in this matter, then the people of the country will drive it away like they did the British."
Mahavir, who's the father of wrestlers Sangeeta &amp; Babita Phogat and the uncle of Vinesh,&nbsp; lamented the current state of women wrestlers and expressed concern that this situation would discourage girls from pursuing wrestling.
He asserted that the protesters' fight will turn into a nationwide movement that will compel the government to yield and arrest lawmaker Brijbhushan, who has been accused of sexual harassment by 7 grapplers including a minor.

"Priyanka Vadra reached Jantar Mantar with her personal secretary Sandeep Singh to seek justice for women wrestlers, but this person himself has been accused of misbehaving women and insulting a Dalit woman,&rdquo; Babita, who contested and lost in the last Haryana Assembly elections from BJP ticket, said in her tweet.

The wrestlers weren't too happy with the presence of the political leader. Olympic Bronze medallist Bajrang Punia asked Karat to not add political colour to their peaceful protest.

The BJP&nbsp;has named party leader and Olympic medallist Yogeshwar Dutt as its candidate for the bypoll to the Baroda assembly constituency in Haryana. The by-election for the Baroda seat in Sonipat&nbsp;will be held on November 3.&nbsp;The bye-election was necessitated due to the demise of Congress MLA Shri Krishan Hooda in April. In the 2019 assembly polls, Dutt had lost to Hooda from the seat. The BJP&nbsp;has never won the Baroda seat.

Chandigarh, PTI: The ruling BJP on Thursday named party leader and Olympic medallist Yogeshwar Dutt as its candidate for the bypoll to the Baroda assembly constituency.
According to a party statement, the wrestler-turned-politician will contest the November 3 bypoll from Baroda seat in Sonipat.
The last date to file nomination for the bypoll is Friday.
The bye-election was necessitated due to the demise of Congress MLA Shri Krishan Hooda in April. In the 2019 assembly polls, Dutt had lost to Hooda from the seat.
Till about midnight, the Congress was yet to announce its candidate for the seat.
Earlier in the morning, some sports personalities including BJP leader Babita Phogat, Sakshi Malik, Geeta Phogat and&nbsp;Dutt had met Chief Minister M L Khattar in Delhi.
The sportspersons batted for&nbsp;Dutt's candidature for the Baroda seat, which the saffron party has never won.
Khattar earlier said that the party''s state unit had discussed 25 names, but shortlisted four and sent it to the party high command.
The party on Thursday evening announced&nbsp;Dutt's name for the seat.
The wrestler-turned-politician, who hails from Bhainswal Kalan village in Sonipat district, had joined the BJP in 2019 ahead of the state assembly polls.
