Hearing the contempt case against Patanjali Ayurved, the Supreme Court bench told Ramdev that he was taking the contempt of court proceedings lightly.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the unconditional apologies filed by Patanjali founders Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna for misleading ads, saying that it was not satisfied with them.
Hearing the contempt case against Patanjali Ayurved, a bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin told Ramdev that he was taking the contempt of court proceedings lightly.
The court also ripped apart Uttarakhand state authorities for not taking action against Patanjali for its misleading medical advertisements.&nbsp;
"We don't want to be so generous in this case," a bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah said during the hearing.
Ramdev and Balkrishna had tendered an "unconditional and unqualified apology" before the apex court over advertisements issued by the firm making tall claims about the medicinal efficacy of its products.
In two separate affidavits filed in the court, Ramdev and Balkrishna have tendered an unqualified apology for the "breach of the statement" recorded in the November 21 last year order of the apex court.
In the November 21, 2023 order, the top court had noted that counsel representing Patanjali Ayurved had assured it that "henceforth there shall not be any violation of any law(s), especially relating to advertising or branding of products manufactured and marketed by it and, further, that no casual statements claiming medicinal efficacy or against any system of medicine will be released to the media in any form".
The top court had said Patanjali Ayurved Ltd is "bound down to such assurance".
The non-observance of the specific assurance and the subsequent media statements irked the apex court, which later issued notice to them to show cause as to why contempt proceedings be not initiated against them.&nbsp;

The retail portion of the offer for sale (OFS) conducted by the Baba Ramdev-led company, was completely subscribed on July 14

Weeks after Florida-based investment firm, GQG Partners put in thousands of crore into crisis-hit Adani firms, it has now invested around Rs 2,400 crore in Baba Ramdev-led FMCG company Patanjali Foods.
Following the move, shares of Patanjali Foods Limited closed 3 percent higher at Rs 1,253 on July 17, with 34 lakh shares changing hands on NSE.&nbsp;

GQG's investment would, therefore, be worth around Rs 2,400 crore.
Patanjali Foods recently completed an OFS of a 7 percent stake, resulting in a decrease in the promoter group's ownership in the company to 73.82 percent from 80.82 percent. This transaction ensured compliance with the minimum shareholding requirements.&nbsp;

U.S Based GQG partners pumped in over $2 billion into Adani group companies over the last few months.&nbsp; GQG's investment in the Adani Group came at a time when most investors were jittery following the Hindenburg Research report in late January. The US-based short seller accused the Adani Group of fraud and stock manipulation, which the conglomerate strongly denied.&nbsp;

Uttarakhand police on Tuesday registered a case against two Dehradun based cartoonists for allegedly making indecent and obscene posters of yoga guru Ramdev and making them viral on the social media.
The case was registered at Kankhal police station here against cartoonists Gajendra Rawat and Hemant Malviya on the basis of a complaint lodged by the legal cell of Patanjali Yogpeeth, Kankhal police station incharge Mukesh Chauhan said.
The duo was accused in the complaint of tarnishing the image of the yoga guru by making indecent and obscene posters of him and making them viral on the social media, he said.
They were booked under section 153A of the IPC on the charge of inciting religious sentiments.
A search has been launched to nab them, the official said.&nbsp;

The Supreme Court on Tuesday lashed out at Baba Ramdev for his 'derogatory' remarks on modern medicine systems such as allopathy.&nbsp;
A bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) N V Ramana was hearing a petition filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) seeking control of the 'smear campaign' against modern medicine, allopathy doctors, and the COVID-19 vaccination drive run by the Yoga guru.
The bench observed that Ramdev can run campaigns to popularise his system (Ayurveda), but should not criticise other systems (modern medicine). &nbsp;
"What happened to Baba Ramdev? He can popularise his system, but why should he criticise other systems? We all respect him, he popularized yoga but he shouldn't criticize other systems. What is the guarantee that his system will work? He cannot refuse the doctor system. He must exercise restraint in abusing other systems," said CJI Ramana, reported LiveLaw.in.
The bench also issued a notice to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Advertising Standards Council of India, Central Consumer Protection Authority of India, Central Consumer Protection Authority of India and Patanjali Ayurved Ltd -- the company founded by Ramdev -- seeking its reply to IMA's plea.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In 2021, during the second wave of Covid-19 that left thousands dead,&nbsp; a video of Ramdev went viral where he could be&nbsp; heard saying, "Lakhs of people have died because of allopathic medicines, far more than those who died because they did not get treatment or oxygen." The yoga guru also reportedly called allopathy a "stupid and bankrupt" science.&nbsp;
He had also claimed that several doctors in India died despite taking both doses of the vaccine.&nbsp;
The IMA, in its plea, said that the "disparaging" statements are made by Ayush companies to mislead the general public.
Last week, in response to a plea filed by doctors against Ramdev's statement claiming US President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid despite being vaccinated, the Delhi High Court asked him to refrain from making misleading comments on Ayurveda.&nbsp;

Baba&nbsp;Ramdev's&nbsp;rant against allopathy&nbsp;has triggered widespread outrage in the medical fraternity that is leading India's fight against Covid. But this is not the first that the yoga guru has been caught with his foot firmly in mouth.&nbsp;

Yoga guru Ramdev fell off an elephant while doing yoga on its back

Yoga guru Ramdev fell off an elephant while he was doing yoga on its back. The popular yoga preacher was not injured in the incident which took place on Monday at an ashram in Mathura. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Ramdev was performing yoga on the elephant's back when it moved, causing Ramdev to fall. In the video, Ramdev could be seen dusting off dirt and moving on with a smile. This is the second accident involving Ramdev recently. Earlier he had fallen while riding a bicycle and that video had gone viral too.

Baba Ramdev has launched Patanjali Paridhan in Delhi's Netaji Subash Place. It is Patanjali's first apparel store in India. It offers apparels for men, women and children under brands like LiveFit, Sanskar and Aastha. The aim is to focus on 'swadeshi' items. The store will offer over 3000 new products.
