The trailer of Kabir Khan directorial 83 has just released and Kapil Dev's fans are already excited for the film to hit the cinemas. The film chronicles Team India’s first-ever World Cup win in 1983. Starring Ranveer Singh as former cricketer Kapil Dev and Deepika Padukone as Romi Dev the film deals with challenges faced by the cricket team in 1983 and how eventually it resulted in a win. The late actor Sushant Singh Rajput essayed the titular role in the film, which went on to become a huge success on the box office.
Azhar (2016)'Azhar' was another biopic based on the life of former Indian cricket team skipper Mohammad Azharuddin. The famous match-fixing scandal that stormed the cricketing world in 1999 was the highlight of the film. Azhar was banned by the judiciary following this scandal.
Recently, we got a glimpse of Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor in the key roles. The film revolves around the character of Shahid who makes a comeback in the cricket team only to buy a jersey for his son. The sports drama is all set to hit theatres on December 31.
