The White House has said the&nbsp;nomination of Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for brokering the landmark Israel-UAE deal is a "hard-earned and well-deserved honour,". Stating that the&nbsp;the US President has made peace a cornerstone of his foreign policy efforts, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said it was a historic deal and the first such deal in over two decades.&nbsp; Far-right Norwegian lawmaker Christian Tybring-Gjedde on Wednesday nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Any lawmaker serving in a national legislature can nominate a person for the Nobel Peace Prize.

PTI,&nbsp;Washington: The nomination of Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for brokering the landmark Israel-UAE deal is a "hard-earned and well-deserved honour," the White House has said, underlining that the US President has made peace a cornerstone of his foreign policy efforts.
Far-right Norwegian lawmaker Christian Tybring-Gjedde on Wednesday nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in mediating the deal between Israel and the UAE which is seen as a historic step towards peace in the Middle East.
Israel and the UAE announced on August 13 that they were establishing full diplomatic relations. The first commercial direct flight between Israel and the UAE landed in Abu Dhabi on August 31 after both countries announced normalisation of relations. The deal would be signed on September 15 at the White House.
The UAE is only the third Arab country to establish diplomatic ties with the Jewish state. Israel's neighbours, Egypt and Jordan, being the other two Arab states to recognise Israel.
"President Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his work in brokering an Israel-United Arab Emirates peace deal. It was a historic deal and the first such deal in over two decades. This is a hard-earned and well-deserved honour for this President," White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Wednesday.
President Trump has made peace a cornerstone of his recent foreign policy efforts, she said.
Any lawmaker serving in a national legislature can nominate a person for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Tybring-Gjedde was one of two Norwegian lawmakers who nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 for his efforts to bring reconciliation between North Korea and South Korea. The 2018 prize was won by Denis Mukwege from Congo and Nadia Murad from Iraq for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict.
In his nomination letter on Wednesday, Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament for the far-right Progress Party, also cited Trump's &ldquo;key role in facilitating contact between conflicting parties and &hellip; creating new dynamics in other protracted conflicts, such as the Kashmir border dispute between India and Pakistan, and the conflict between North and South Korea, as well as dealing with the nuclear capabilities of North Korea,&rdquo; the Fox News reported.
Trump has repeatedly in the past offered to mediate between India and Pakistan on the Kashmir issue. However, India has maintained that the Kashmir issue is a bilateral one and no third party has any role.
McEnany said that the president's foreign policy will always be one of peace through strength, and that is what the American people are seeing abroad.
"Career politicians merely talk about the kind of results this president has achieved on the world stage," she said.
"These wins are possible because of the President's leadership and outsider perspective. President Trump addresses old challenges with new solutions and delivers results for the American people," she said.
Highlighting Trump's initiatives, McEnany said that the US has announced a drawdown of troops in Iraq from 5,200 to 3,000.
"We've secured better trade deals for the American worker. President Trump negotiated the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement), the U.S.-South Korea deal; ended the Trans-Pacific Partnership; brought back manufacturing jobs," she said. "President Trump has stood up to China: the phase one China deal; also tariffs to hold China accountable; and actions to block Huawei," she said.
President Trump has also defeated terrorists. The ISIS caliphate is destroyed. Al-Baghdadi is no longer on the battlefield, along with Iranian General Soleimani, she said.
He has also brokered economic normalisation between Serbia and Kosovo, a major breakthrough in this decades-old conflict, McEnany added.&nbsp;

Two demands by the Indian and the Chinese side were explicit when the&nbsp;defence&nbsp;ministers of the two&nbsp;Asian giants&nbsp;sat face to face and discussed the tensions in Ladakh during their over 2-hour&nbsp;meeting in Moscow. Making its stand clear on China&rsquo;s repeated attempts to alter the status quo at the yet-to-be-demarcated Line of Actual Control, defense minister Rajnath Singh asked his Chinese counterpart&nbsp;General Wei&nbsp;Fenghe&nbsp;to ensure complete disengagement, a process which began after the clashes in&nbsp;Galwan&nbsp;led to death of 20 Indian and&nbsp;unspecified&nbsp;People&rsquo;s Liberation Army troops in July.&nbsp;Rajnath&nbsp;said that the two sides should continue their discussions to ensure restoration of peace, emphasizing&nbsp;that unilaterally actions, such as the one in eastern Pangong region by the PLA&nbsp;in August&nbsp;will be dealt with a firm hand.&nbsp;Hours after the meeting that took place on the sidelines of the&nbsp;Shanghai Cooperation&nbsp;Organisation&nbsp;summit, China in a statement said it&nbsp;can&rsquo;t lose even an inch of its territory and is capable of safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity, putting the onus of the ongoing crisis squarely on India.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Defence Ministers of India and China held a meeting for over 2 hours on Friday to discuss the continuing standoff between the two countries along the border in Ladakh. It was the first highest-level face-to-face level talk between the two sides since the border tension flared up in May.&nbsp;The meeting was held in Moscow along the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, an eight-nation bloc of which both countries are members.
Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh strongly conveyed to his Chinese counterpart General Wei Fenghe that China&rsquo;s attempts to unilaterally alter the status quo were in violation of the bilateral agreements.&nbsp; He asserted that while the Indian troops have&nbsp;always taken responsible approach there should be no doubt about&nbsp;their determination to protect India&rsquo;s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Singh also said that the Chinese side should work with Indian side for complete disengagement and de-escalation in the border areas as peace is essential for delveopment of bilateral ties. Underlining the importance of handling the situation responsibly and not taking any further action to complicate matters, Rajnath&nbsp;Singh&nbsp;said that the two sides should continue their discussions to ensure restoration of peace.&nbsp;
Hours after the meeting, China released a statement on Saturday saying that the responsibility for the current border tension between the two countries lies with India. The statement further said that China can&rsquo;t lose even an inch of its territory and is capable of safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity. China called on India earnestly implement the consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and PM Modi and resolve the issue through dialogue.
The tensions between the two sides flared up again after the Indian Army on August 31 said they had foiled a &lsquo;provocative bid&rsquo; by the Chinese troops along the south bank of Pangong Lake.
