The email address from which the threat was sent had the letters "CIA" in it. CIA is the spy agency of the United States of America.

An alert was sounded in India's financial capital Mumbai after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) received an email threatening a terrorist attack in the city.
Police on 3 February 2023 said that the email was received a day earlier. The threatening communication said that a person linked to the Taliban would carry out an "attack" in Mumbai.
The email address from which the threat was sent had the letters "CIA" in it. CIA is the spy agency of the United States of America.
Mumbai police and Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) were put on alert after the email was received. An investigation has also been launched into the origins of the email.

A similar mail was sent to the federal agency last month as well. The police conducted a probe and did not find any substance in it, he said. The police suspect this might be a mischief, as such mails were sent to the probe agency earlier as well, the official added.

The Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui in connection with what the police has called India's largest religious conversion syndicate, news agency ANI reported.
The cleric was taken in Muzaffarnagar after attending a programme in Meerut.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh ADG Prashant Kumar claimed that Siddiqui, one of the biggest clerics from western Uttar Pradesh, not only funded and oversaw conversion activities but also used his trust to fund madrasas involved in unlawful conversion.
In a statement, the ATS said Siddiqui runs Jamia Imam Waliullah trust that funds several madrassas for which he received huge foreign funding. Citing investigations, Kumar said Siddiqui's trust received ₹3 crore in foreign funding including ₹1.5 from crore Bahrain'. Six teams of ATS have been formed to investigate the case
