An automated teller machine (ATM) has been installed onboard the Mumbai-Manmad Panchavati Express on &ldquo;experimental basis&rdquo;, Central Railway (CR) officials said on Tuesday. The ATM, provided by a private bank, has been installed in an air-conditioned chair car coach of the daily express service and will be made available to passengers shortly, they said. &ldquo;The ATM has been installed on board the Panchvati Express on experimental basis,&rdquo; Swapnil Nila, chief public relations officer of the CR said. According to the railway officials, the ATM has been installed in a cubicle at the rear end of the coach, a space earlier used as a makeshift pantry. A shutter door has been provided to ensure safety and accessibility while the train is in motion, he said. Railway officials said necessary coach modification was undertaken at the Manmad Railway Workshop. The Panchvati Express operates daily between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Manmad Junction and it completes its one way journey in approximately 4.35 hours. It is one of the popular trains on the route due to convenient timing for intercity journey.

Despite analysts talk about the relevance and importance of ₹2000 currency note in the Indian economy, cash continues to attract Indians the most as the medium of exchange, suggests a report titled 'CMS India Cash Vibrancy Report 2023' by CMS Info Systems.
According to the report, the ATM cash withdrawals zoomed 235 per cent to Rs 2.84 lakh crore in March 2023 in a matter of 76 months after demonetization.
The findings in the "India Cash Vibrancy Report 2023" released by CMS Info Systems showed that the cash in circulation (CIC) in the Indian economy dipped sharply after demonetisation but has more than doubled since then.
Currency in circulation (CIC) in India has been on a steady rise. After touching 8. 7 percent in 2016, India&rsquo;s CIC to GDP ratio has averaged close to 12. 4 percent, which is higher than the 10-year average of 11. 8 percent. &ldquo;We have seen 10. 1% growth in monthly average cash replenishment at ATMs and a strong 1. 3X increase in average cash collection per point with e-commerce companies in FY23,&rdquo; said Anush Raghavan, president, cash management services, CMS Info Systems.
Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh together accounted for 43. 1% of the total ATM cash replenished by CMS Info Systems across the country. Incidentally, these are the top 5 states with maximum gross state domestic product (GSDP) in fiscal year 2022, according to CMS Infosystems.

A complaint registered by the private company responsible for the maintenance of the ATM kiosk said the incident took place between May 14-15. There was almost a week's delay between the theft and filing of the complaint, according to reports.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in its one of the key decisions in Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has proposed to make cardless cash withdrawal facility available at all ATMs, through the Unified Payment Interface (UPI). 
Here's how you can withdraw cash without your card-To withdraw cash without a card, you will need a UPI ID, The transactions will be authenticated via UPI.
-Once you enter the ATM, you will have to choose the “Cashless Withdrawal” option on the screen.
