Nearly 10 days after the murder of alleged gangster Atiq Ahmed, Uttar Pradesh police discovered what appeared to be blood stains inside his partially-demolished office in Prayagraj. Cops also found a knife.
Satyendra Prasad Tiwari, ACP, Prayagraj, said, "On the ground floor, red stains which appear to be blood were seen near the stairs. Next to the kitchen, blood stains were found."
"We'll see whom the blood belongs to. CCTV footage is available to see who came and went," he added.
Asked about police deployment in the area, he said, "Police team stays at the main crossing for security. This is a demolished house, open from 3 sides. Someone may have sneaked in."

Atiq and his brother were shot mutiple times in Uttar Pradesh Police's presence when they were speaking with media while being escorted by cops.&nbsp;

Following the shocking shootout, UP Police have claimed to have nabbed 3 assailants involved in the killing.&nbsp;
While a journalist from a news agency was injured after he well during the chaos, a constable sustained bullet injury in the firing. The cops are interrogating the assailants.&nbsp;

Weeks after the daylight murder of Umesh Pal, a key witness in the killing of BSP MLA Raju Pal, Uttar Pradesh Police doubled the amount of reward money for information leading to the arrest of five accused.
The accused include MP Atiq Ahmed's son Asad. The reward amount has been increased from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh.
Umesh Pal and his police security guard Sandeep Nishad were shot dead outside his home in Prayagraj on 24 February 2023.
Based on a complaint lodged by Umesh Pal's wife Jaya Pal, a case was registered at Dhoomanganj police station against Ahmed, his brother Ashraf, wife Shaista Parveen, two sons, aides Guddu Muslim and Ghulam, and nine others.
Two men allegedly linked to Umesh Pal's murder -- Arbaaz and Vijay Chowdhary alias Usman -- were killed in encounters with the police on February 27 and March 6 respectively.
Atiq Ahmed is currently lodged in a Gujarat jail.

Atiq Ahmed should be killed in police encounter: former BJP MP

Police said Ahmed, who is lodged in a Gujarat jail, was involved in planning the attack. Ahmed recently moved to the Supreme Court, saying he feared for his life.

&nbsp;Former BJP MP Harinarayan Rajbhar on Thursday said gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed should be brought out of jail and killed in an encounter, adding that the gates of heaven will open for the policeman who does so.
The provocative remark comes days after Ahmed&rsquo;s two alleged aides, accused in the Umesh Pal murder, were killed in separate encounters with UP Police. Police say they fired in retaliation, but the opposition Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party have expressed disquiet.
The police encounters followed the gunning down of Umesh Pal, a key witness in the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal in 2005, and two police personnel in Prayagraj last month.
Police said Ahmed, already lodged in a Gujarat jail in connection with another case, was involved in planning the attack.
"Atiq Ahmed conspired the murder while in jail. Atiq Ahmed has killed hundreds of people and forcibly occupied the land of the poor,&rdquo; Rajbhar, who was elected to Parliament in 2014 from Ghosi in Mau district, told reporters.
&ldquo;Atiq Ahmed fears being killed in an encounter. There should be an encounter of all the shooters involved in the Umesh Pal murder case. An encounter of Atiq Ahmed should be carried out after bringing him out of jail. The doors of heaven will open in the future for the officer who carries out Atiq&rsquo;s encounter," he said.
Ahmed recently moved the Supreme Court, saying he feared for his life.
In the petition, he expressed the apprehension that the Uttar Pradesh Police will seek his remand in connection with the Umesh Pal murder and then stage a fake encounter while bringing him from Ahmedabad prison to Prayagraj.
Along with Ahmed, police have named his family members in the Umesh Pal case.
Rajbhar was also asked about SP general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav&rsquo;s remark that Ahmed&rsquo;s son will be killed in a fake encounter in the coming days.
"Ram Gopal Yadav has given birth to these criminals while in government, taught them crime. He is still speaking in support of these criminals,&rdquo; the BJP leader charged.
He said the Mulayam Singh Yadav family &ldquo;promotes such elements&rdquo; and accused SP leaders of being &ldquo;merchants of death&rdquo;.
Targeting Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) leader Om Prakash Rajbhar, the BJP leader called him an &ldquo;accomplice of criminals&rdquo; and said he should be in jail.
He alleged that the SBSP chief and his sons are extorting money from businessmen and doctors.
&ldquo;They are committing these crimes under police protection. If the government does not pay attention now, there is a possibility that more Prayagraj-like incidents will take place in the near future,&rdquo; he said.
The SBSP has quit its alliance with the SP and appears to be inching towards the ruling BJP.

Former Samajwadi Party leader Atiq Ahmed on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court seeking its protection, claiming that he has been "roped in" as an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case and fears threat to his life.
Currently lodged in the Ahmedabad Central Jail, Ahmed has also sought directions to ensure that no physical or bodily injury or harm is done to him in any manner during police custody or interrogation.
He has also sought a direction restraining the state of Uttar Pradesh and others from taking him from the Central Jail in Ahmedabad to Prayagraj or any other part of Uttar Pradesh.

The AIMIM on Friday offered to field gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Anasri in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.Earlier,&nbsp;BSP supremo Mayawati said her party will make efforts to not field 'bahubali' or mafia candidates in the upcoming polls and announced that Ansari, who is lodged in a jail in Banda, will not be given a ticket from Mau again.
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen's national spokesperson Syed Asim Waqar said the party's doors are open for Ansari.
Waqar asked other Muslims also not to "purchase tickets" from any other political party as they will ensure their defeat even after taking money from them.

The Supreme Court on 18 April 2023 agreed to hear a petition seeking a probe into the brazen murder of alleged gangster Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, as per reports.
The petition reportedly sought an independent inquiry headed by a retired judge of the top court.
The Supreme Court will hear the petition on 24 April.
