According to the report, Ayodhya, Varanasi and Mathura, have been placed under extra protection. The priests in the cities have been asked to alert any suspicious activity or person at temples.
Meanwhile, prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) have been issued in all districts of Uttar Pradesh. Internet services remain shut in Prayagraj district as part of the security measures.

In a dramatic turn of events, gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were shot dead by unidentified assailants while they were being escorted by police to a medical college in UP's Prayagraj on Saturday night.
A senior police officer said three people have been arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred just two days after Ahmad's son was gunned down in a police encounter in Jhansi.
