The Supreme Court on April 15 issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate seeking its reply to a plea filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest.
Refusing to list the plea for urgent hearing, the apex court asked the agency to file its reply by April 24.
Kejriwal's counsel had sought interim relief from the arrest in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam case. &nbsp;
The next hearing will now commence on April 29. &nbsp;
The high court had on April 9 upheld his arrest in the money-laundering case, saying the ED was left with "little option" after he skipped repeated summonses and refused to join the investigation.
The high court had dismissed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader's petition challenging his arrest by the ED and subsequent remand in the federal agency's custody.
The matter pertains to alleged corruption and money laundering in the formulation and execution of the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22 that was later scrapped.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, hours after the high court refused to grant him protection from coercive action by the federal anti-money laundering agency.
He is in currently lodged in Tihar Jail.&nbsp;

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approached the Delhi High Court on 19th March challenging all the nine summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate in the excise policy case. Kejriwal called these summonses &ldquo;unconstitutional and arbitrary&rdquo;.
The bench will take up the matter on March 20th. Kejriwal received the ninth summons on March 17th, asking him to appear for questioning on March 21 in the excise policy-linked money laundering case.&nbsp; Kejriwal has so far skipped eight summonses by the agency.
The agency said it has conducted searches at 245 locations across the country since the registration of a case in 2022 and has arrested 15 persons, including AAP leaders Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and some liquor businessmen.
It has filed a total of six charge sheets in this case till now and has attached assets worth over Rs 128 crore.
The ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have alleged that the Delhi government's excise policy to grant licences to liquor traders allowed cartelisation and favoured certain dealers who had allegedly paid bribes for it, a charge strongly refuted by the AAP.
The policy was subsequently scrapped and Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena recommended a CBI probe into the irregularities in its formulation and implementation. Later, the ED registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.&nbsp;

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader had been skipping the ED summons terming it "illegal", with the party leaders claiming that it is a ploy to arrest him and prevent him from campaigning in the upcoming general elections.
The party has argued that Kejriwal was ready to cooperate with the ED, but has raised doubts over its intentions.
"Why has the notice been sent right before elections? The notice is an attempt to stop Kejriwal from campaigning in elections," the party alleged, according to PTI news agency.&nbsp;
Impending arrest?
A person summoned by the ED can skip the summons three times, following which the agency can approach a court and seek a non-bailable warrant (NBW) and compel their appearance.
In this case, if Kejrwial fails to adhere to the NBW, he could get arrested. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
The chief minister had previously refused to appear before the federal agency on two earlier summonses for November 2 and December 21, citing busy schedule in the wake of assembly elections.
Several AAP leaders under the radar&nbsp;&nbsp;
Kejriwal is among the several AAP leaders who have been grilled in the excise policy-linked money laundering case.
Senior AAP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and another leader, Sanjay Singh, have been arrested in the same case.
What is the liquor scam?
Launched in 2021 to boost state coffers and improve consumer experience, the liquor sales policy soon ran into trouble after the enforcement authorities found irregularities in the formation and implementation of the policy. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the ED also alleged that the ruling government received kickbacks in lieu of providing benefits to certain retailers.
The AAP has rebuked all the allegations, claiming that the agencies are acting at the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is trying to settle a political score with the Kejriwal government.

'Entire country is stunned': Arvind Kejriwal on Gujarat HC order on PM Modi's degrees

The Gujarat High Court on Friday quashed a seven-year-old order of the Central Information Commission (CIC) which had asked the Gujarat University to provide information on Modi's degree to Kejriwal.

People, who have the right to know about the academic qualification of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are &ldquo;stunned&rdquo; by the Gujarat High Court's verdict, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday.
The Gujarat High Court on Friday quashed a seven-year-old order of the Central Information Commission (CIC) which had asked the Gujarat University to provide information on Modi's degree to Kejriwal.
Allowing the Gujarat University's appeal against the CIC order, Justice Biren Vaishnav also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on Kejriwal and asked him to deposit the amount within four weeks to the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA).
&ldquo;Entire country is stunned by the High Court's order because there should be a freedom of seeking information and asking questions in a democracy,&rdquo; Kejriwal said at a press conference.
&ldquo;The High court's order has increased the suspicion over the prime minister's education,&rdquo; he charged. If the prime minister had studied from Gujarat University or Delhi University, they should have been celebrating it, instead they are hiding the information, the Delhi chief minister said.
&ldquo;If there is a valid degree of Modi, why Gujarat University is not showing it,&rdquo; he asked. There can only be two reasons why Gujarat university is not ready to give information on the prime minister's academic qualification &ndash; it's either due to Modi's arrogance, or, his degree is fake, Kejriwal said.
He, however, went on to add that being illiterate is not &ldquo;a crime or sin&rdquo; as there is so much poverty in the country.
&ldquo;Many of us are not in a position to get formal education due to financial conditions in the families.&rdquo; Such rank poverty continues to afflict the nation even after 75 years of independence, he added. Kejriwal pressed on with his question on Modi&rsquo;s education, saying the question becomes imperative since being the &ldquo;top manager&rdquo; of the country, Modi has to take so many important decisions every day, including those pertaining to science and economy.
&ldquo;If the prime minister is not educated then the officers and various types of people will come and get his signature anywhere, get passed from him anything, like the note ban (demonetisation) due to which the country had to suffer a lot,&rdquo; he charged. &ldquo;If the prime minister modi was educated he would not have implemented the note ban,&rdquo; the CM added.&nbsp;

On the eve of Bhagat Singh's death anniversary, the chief minister said, "March 23 is the day of martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. It was on this day in 1931 that our great freedom fighters -- Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev -- were hanged to death by the British. All three sacrificed their lives for the country, to fight for the freedom of our people." On December 20 last year, the Delhi cabinet had announced that a new and different type of school will be built in the national capital where students will be trained in their early years in order to make them eligible for recruitment in the armed forces, he said.
Training will be provided to these students so that they can get themselves enrolled in the National Defence Academy (NDA), the Navy and the Air Force, Kejriwal said, adding that they will be prepared to become defence officers in the future in this specialised school.
"It will be named after Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh -- Shaheed Bhagat Singh Armed Forces Preparatory School," he said during an online briefing.  It will be a residential school and the students will not be charged any fees, the chief minister added.
"The school will admit students to classes 9 and 11. There will be 200 seats -- 100 in each class. We have already received 18,000 applications for the 200 seats," he said.
An aptitude test will be conducted on March 27 for admission to Class 9. The test for enrolment in Class 11 will be held the next day. In the second phase, interviews will be conducted of the shortlisted candidates, Kejriwal said.
"It will be a residential campus with separate hostels for boys and girls. A 14-acre stretch of land in Jharoda Kalan has been allotted for the development of the campus, where this new and improved school will be built.
"The way ideal training for officer-like qualities is provided in the armed forces to young men and women, similar qualities will be imbibed in these students and hence, they will be prepared for the NDA, the Naval Academy and other armed services in the future. Expert faculty will be employed for optimum training of these students, which will include veterans from the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force," he said.
