Police teams have also checked as many as 546 suspicious persons during the day-long operation, he added.
The Special DGP said that with the state government has enforced a three-pronged strategy&mdash; Enforcement, Deaddiction and Prevention (EDP)&mdash; to eradicate drugs from the state, the Punjab Police as part of &lsquo;De-addiction&rsquo; has convinced 77persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.

Using Interpol's International Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) database and Cyber Tipline Reports, generated by Google and submitted to Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), the CBI detected the material and identified the victims and perpetrator, they said.
None of the victims or their families had approached police with the complaint before the CBI detected the material and nailed the role of alleged perpetrator, they said.
The agency registered a case on May 29 against Somnath from Hisar for alleged rape and sexual assault on multiple minor victims. He was arrested on Tuesday following searches at his residential premises, they said.
The searches resulted in the seizure of electronic gadgets carrying incriminating material, which helped identify multiple victim children who were raped, sexually assaulted, threatened, and used for pornographic purposes over the past few years, a CBI spokesperson said in a statement.

Shakur Khan, an Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) posted at the Jaisalmer employment office had allegedly been passing sensitive, strategic information to Pakistan, they said.
The government employee had been under surveillance for suspicious activities over an extended period.
During monitoring, agencies discovered that he was in regular contact with individuals linked to the Pakistan High Commission, particularly Ahsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish and Sohail Qamar, Inspector General (CID-Security) Vishnu Kant Gupta said.
"Khan was taken into custody for questioning a few days ago and was interrogated extensively at the central interrogation facility in Jaipur by multiple intelligence agencies," Gupta said in a statement.
He further shared that Khan had obtained Pakistani visas on several occasions and travelled to Pakistan, allegedly with the assistance of Danish.
Investigations revealed that during his visits, Khan came in contact with agents of Pakistan's spy agency ISI.
He has also been accused of collecting sensitive information upon return to India and transmitting it to Pakistani handlers through platforms such as WhatsApp.
Gupta noted that the case constitutes a serious security breach under the Official Secrets Act, 1923. "A case has been registered, and Khan has been arrested under relevant sections of the Act," he said.
While the police declined to comment on Khan's alleged political links, sources said he had previously worked as a personal assistant (PA) to former Congress minister Shale Mohammad, a detail that recently sparked political controversy.

The accused, identified as Bhupender Guru (27), allegedly lured Manjesh Bijarinya with the promise of securing a job for her in the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), police said in a statement.
Over time, she was allegedly duped into transferring Rs 13.21 lakh to Guru. She also alleegdly handed over her original academic certificates, believing the job offer to be genuine.
"She received an email carrying what appeared to be an official DMRC appointment letter. However, it was later discovered to be a forged document sent from a fake email ID impersonating the corporation," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh said in a statement.
Realising she had been cheated, the woman filed a complaint on the NCRP (National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal), which was registered at the cyber police station. A case was lodged under relevant sections of the BNS and an investigation was launched.
The investigation faced initial hurdles as the accused was communicating solely via social media and was not residing at the address mentioned in his documents. However, the police tracked his digital footprint using open-source intelligence and technical tools, he said.
"After multiple leads and surveillance efforts, the accused was located and arrested in Sultanpuri. The team also recovered the original mark sheets of the victim from his possession," the DCP said.
During sustained interrogation, Guru allegedly confessed to the crime, police said.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Atish Kumar Singh, a case was registered based on a complaint from 68-year-old Ramjatan Kanaujia from the same village.
In his complaint, Kanaujia said he worked for Jaibharat Mishra. On Monday evening, Mishra shot Kanaujia's wife Phoolpatti (65) with his pistol over some issue. The seriously injured woman was rushed to the district hospital, where she died during treatment.
The ASP said Mishra has confessed to the crime and the pistol used in the murder has been recovered.
The police is interrogating the accused, he said.

In the second case reported on May 16, another woman lodged a similar complaint.
After receiving a tip-off about the presence of some suspects near Chander Vihar, police conducted a raid and arrested three people -- a man, his wife and a minor.
They, too, claimed to have duped the complainant using hypnosis, the DCP said.
Given the striking similarity between the two incidents, a police team investigated both cases, the DCP said.

The main accused, identified as Rashid Choudhury, a native of Hyderabad, allegedly ran a cyber scam by using the name "National Rural Development and Recreation Mission (NRDRM)" to falsely present it as a government body under the Ministry of Rural Development, police said.
"The matter came to light following a complaint from the Ministry of Rural Development on March 22, reporting fake recruitment advertisements on two different fake websites featuring images of Union ministers and top officials to mislead job seekers.
"The scam involved collecting registration fees ranging from Rs 299 to Rs 399 from applicants," Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla said at a press briefing.
He said that an FIR was registered and further investigation was taken up.
During the investigation, a QR code embedded in the fraudulent websites was traced to a bank account in Assam. The money was routed through multiple mule accounts and withdrawn from ATMs.
Over a hundred CCTV footages were analysed to track the cash withdrawals, eventually leading the police to the Laxmi Nagar area in east Delhi, where surveillance confirmed the presence of suspects, said the DCP.
A raid was conducted on May 18, resulting in the arrest of Ikbal Hussain (27) of Assam, who confessed to withdrawing money for the gang. Based on his disclosure, the police later arrested Rashid Choudhury from a separate flat in the same locality.
"Choudhury is a habitual cybercriminal and the mastermind behind the racket. He operated a network involving web developers, account handlers and SIM procurers," said the DCP.
The police seized 11 mobile phones, 15 SIM cards, 21 cheque books, 15 debit cards, a POS machine, four fake stamps, and five Wi-Fi dongles, besides identifying six fake websites used in the commission of the crime.
The seized devices and bank records are being analysed in coordination with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C). Further investigation is underway to trace more victims and co-accused linked to the pan-India scam.

The Hague-based court said in a statement on Friday Putin "is allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of the population (children) and that of unlawful transfer of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation."
It also issued a warrant for the arrest of Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, the commissioner for children's rights in the office of the president of the Russian Federation on similar allegations, reported Al Jazeera.
Russia did not immediately comment following the ICC's move on Friday.

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore issued the verdict in early June. Mir had been incarcerated at Lahore's Kot Lakhpat prison since his arrest in April. An embarrassed Islamabad apparently tried to keep the case under wraps with the Counter Terrorism Department of Punjab Police not notifying the conviction.

Sajid Mir is a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative who is on the Most Wanted lists in India and USA. Mir recruited David Headley, who had visited India to carry out surveys of the areas which were eventually attacked. Mir is also accused of conspiring to carry out attacks in Denmark.
He now joins other top Lashkar operatives in prison. These include chief of the terror organisation, Hafiz Saeed - the mastermind of the 26/11 attacks. He has been sentenced to 68 years in prison in terror financing cases. However, he is expected to spend very little time in jail as the sentences will run concurrently.
Another Lashkar terrorist in jail is Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi. He acted as the operational commander of the 26/11 conspiracy. He is also in jail under terror financing charges.

The country is currently trying to exit the 'grey list' of the Financial Action Task Force, or FATF. Islamabad was placed in the grey list in 2018 for allowing terror financing and money laundering from its territory. In order to exit the grey list, Pakistan has to take action against terrorists. To verify that effective action has truly been taken, FATF officials are slated to visit the country soon.
If Pakistan fails to convince FATF that it is cracking down on terrorist networks, then it might be relegated to the 'black list'. This would lead to imposition of sanctions. Foreign investments and loans will dry up, and trade with other countries will become extremely difficult.
Pakistan is already struggling with economic distress along with political instability.If the FATF decides to penalise Islamabad, it might just push the country into a Sri Lanka-like situation.
But it is also difficult to believe that a country which has encouraged terrorism for many decades, has suddenly decided to clean up its act. So, is the jailing of sinister terrorists justice, or just a show?

He reportedly said that 4-5 rape cases are being reported every day in the state, and special measures are needed to counter sexual harassment, abuse, and coercion. The government announced that the Cabinet Committee on Rape and Law &amp; Order will review all these cases.

On 14 August 2021, which is celebrated as Pakistan's Independence Day, a TikTok star was molested by a mob at the Minar-e-Pakistan monument in Lahore. A month earlier, 27-year-old Noor Muqaddam, the daughter of a former diplomat, was raped, tortured, and killed allegedly by the scion of a prominent industrialist family.
In July 2016, social media star Qandeel Baloch was murdered by her brother for what he called "intolerable behaviour". In June 2002, a woman named Mukhtaran Mai had been gangraped on orders of the village council as punishment for her brother's relationship with a woman from a rival tribe. In April 1999, 28-year-old Samia Sarwar had been shot dead allegedly be her family for seeking a divorce over domestic violence.
In light of such distressing cases, Pakistan ranks 167 out of 170 countries on the Global Women, Peace, and Security Index. According to police records, 41,000 women went missing in Pakistan's Punjab province in the last 5 years, and over 3,500 of them had not been found by March 2022.
Studies say that at least 32% women in Pakistan have experienced physical violence, and 28% women aged between 15 and 49 years have been victims of intimate partner violence. Experts agree that these figures are conservative. Meanwhile, the conviction rate is limited to 1% to 2.5% in crimes against women.
The imposition of an emergency in Pakistan's Punjab has been sparked by an alarming spike in violence. On 14 June, a rickshaw driver allegedly raped a teenage girl in Muzaffargarh. On 27 May, a 25-yr-old woman was allegedly gangraped on a Karachi-Multan train. A day earlier, robbers allegedly raped a minor girl in front of her family in Pattoki. On 22 May, a bus driver working with a private company allegedly raped a woman in Bahawalpur.
With panic gripping women, Pakistani authorities have announced a slew of measures. The steps include fast-track DNA examination by forensic labs to identify assailants. The government is also running anti-rape campaigns to spread awareness.
The authorities are also telling parents to not leave children unattended at home. Additionally, students will be sensitised at school regarding sexual harassment. The government will also consult civil society, women's rights activists, and teachers for prevention of sexual crimes.
It remains to be seen whether measures like imposition of emergency are effective in ending an entrenched culture of crimes against women and subsequent impunity in Pakistan.

The Taliban have arrested a well-known Afghan fashion model and three of his colleagues, accusing them of disrespecting Islam and the Quran, the Muslim holy book, according to videos released by Afghanistan's new rulers.
Ajmal Haqiqi — known for his fashion shows, YouTube clips and modeling events — appeared handcuffed in videos posted on Twitter by the Taliban intelligence agency on Tuesday.
In one widely circulated and contentious video, Haqiqi is seen laughing as his colleague Ghulam Sakhi — who is known to have a speech impediment that he uses for humor — recites verses of the Quran in Arabic, in a comical voice.
After the arrests, the Taliban released a video of Haqiqi and his colleagues, seen standing in light brown jail uniforms and apologizing to the Taliban government and religious scholars.
The video was accompanied by a tweet in the Dari language, saying: “No one is allowed to insult Quranic verses or sayings of the Prophet Muhammad.” Later Wednesday, Amnesty International released a statement, urging the Taliban to “immediately and unconditionally” release Haqiqi and his colleagues.
Amnesty has documented several arbitrary detentions by the Taliban in Afghanistan, often accompanied by coerced statements in an attempt to stifle dissent in the country and deter others from expressing their views.
Samira Hamidi, Amnesty's South Asia campaigner, denounced the arrests and said that by detaining “Haqiqi and his colleagues and coercing them into apologizing," the Taliban have undertaken “a blatant attack on the right to freedom of expression." Her statement also condemned the Taliban's "continued censorship of those who wish to freely express their ideas.” In Kabul, Taliban officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment and it was not clear what measures the model and his colleagues face under the Taliban-run judiciary.
The families of the arrested models could also not immediately be reached for comment.
Since they seized power last August in Afghanistan during the final weeks of the U.S. troop pullout from the country, the Taliban have imposed strict measures and edicts according to their harsh interpretation of Islamic law, particularly curbing the rights of women and minorities.
The moves have raised international concerns that the radical Islamic group intends to rule as it did the last time the Taliban held power in Afghanistan, in the late 1990s. The Taliban consider criticism and anything perceived as disrespectful of Islam as a punishable crime.
Amnesty said that since their takeover, the Taliban “have been using intimidation, harassment, and violence on anyone who has expressed support for human rights or modern values, especially human rights defenders, women activists, journalists, and members of academia among others." The rights group also urged the Taliban as the de facto authority in Afghanistan to “abide by international human rights law and respect everyone's right to freedom of expression without discrimination.”
