Indian Navy in a post on X said that INS Chennai intercepted the hijacked vessel and the marine commandos started the sanitisation operation.

Director General of Shipping Shyam Jagannathan on January 5 said that all crew members on MV Lila Norfolk cargo ship that was hijacked in the Arabian Sea are safe.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Jagannathan said that the crew members included 17 Indians and five Filipinos.
Earlier, the Indian Navy had said that INS Chennai intercepted the hijacked vessel and the marine commandos started the sanitisation operation. It added that the ship was kept under continuous surveillance using a helicopter.
Meanwhile, citing military officials, news agency ANI said that the Navy issued a warning to pirates to abandon the hijacked vessel. The officials later said that the top deck of the hijacked vessel was sanitised.

MV Chem Pluto, an Israel-affiliate vessel, was carrying crude oil to New Mangalore port from Al Jubail port in Saudi Arabia, when a drone strike led to a fire on the vessel, about 217 nautical miles from Porbandar on Arabian sea on Saturday. Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard swung into action by deploying their assets, including a warship and maritime patrol aircraft, soon after the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported the drone "attack" on MV Chem Pluto.

The maritime law enforcement agency swung into action after receiving flooding distress alerts from the crew of MT Global King. It diverted its assets including merchant ships and its newly-commissioned ALH Dhruv choppers to carry out the rescue operation. 
The vessel had left from Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and was on its way to Karwar in Karnataka, when there was sudden, uncontrolled flooding on board, prompting the crew to initiate a distress call. It was carrying 6,000 tonnes of Bitumen, a semi-solid form of petroleum also known as Asphalt, onboard.

The Mumbai Police registered a case against the captain of the barge which sank in the Arabian sea during Cyclone Tauktae.&nbsp;As many as 49 lives were lost when the barge sank.
