Researchers studied over 50,000 people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), comparing their DNA with that of healthy people. They found that the genetic composition that puts people at a higher risk of IBS also increases the risk for common mood and anxiety disorders.

Publishing in the journal Nature Genetics, the team explained that this doesn't mean anxiety causes IBS symptoms or vice versa.&nbsp;Further adding that we need to stop&nbsp;wrongly&nbsp;labelling IBS as an emotional state or&nbsp;&lsquo;all in the mind.&rsquo;
The team said that these findings will ultimately help with developing better tests and treatments for IBS.&nbsp;

A new study suggests that people who engage in regular physical exercise may have a lower risk of developing anxiety disorder by almost 60 percent.

According to a study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychiatry, people who engage in regular exercise may lower their risk of developing anxiety. The team also found that anxiety issues are more common amongst women compared to men.

Researchers conducted the study based on data from almost 400,000 people in Sweden who were examined for a period of 21 years. The team was able to identify a noticeable difference in the risk of developing anxiety and in exercise performance levels between males and females.
As per the findings, anxiety disorders were significantly low amongst people who followed a physically active lifestyle as compared to those who did not. The group with a more physically active lifestyle had an almost 60% reduced risk of anxiety disorders, researchers concluded.
