The singer was undergoing treatment in south Kolkata for old age related ailments. He died due to multiple organ failure at 1:40 pm, according to his family.

Bengali singer Anup Ghoshal, popular for his song &lsquo;Tujhse Naraz Nahi Zindagi&rsquo; from the film Masoom (1983), has passed away on December 15. Ghoshal was 77. The singer was undergoing treatment in south Kolkata for old age related ailments. He died due to multiple organ failure at 1:40 pm, according to his family. The singer had also successfully contested the 2011 assembly polls from Uttarpara seat on the Trinamool Congress ticket. West Bengal Chief minister Mamata Banerjee condoled his death. She said, &ldquo;I express my deep grief and condolence over the death of Anup Ghosal who had sung in Bengali, Hindi and other languages,&rdquo; Indian Express reported. Ghoshal was also known for songs of Kaji Nazrul Islam, Rabindranath Tagore and modern Bengali songs. He was also associated with Satyajit Ray&rsquo;s &lsquo;Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne&rsquo; and &lsquo;Hirak Rajar Deshe.&rsquo; He was playback singer for films like &lsquo;Fuleswari&rsquo;, &lsquo;Marjina Abdalla&rsquo; and &lsquo;Chhadmabeshi.&rsquo; He was born in 1945 and learned music from his mother Labanya Ghoshal in his childhood. He later learnt classical music from Pt Sukhendu Goswami. The prolific singer is survived by two daughters.
