GCMMF, the maker of Amul dairy products, has lowered milk prices by ₹1 per litre for one-litre packs across India. This price reduction aims to encourage customers to buy larger packs and benefit from the savings.

Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, has reduced milk prices by ₹1 per litre across India.
However, the reduction in prices is only for one-litre packs.
"We have reduced the prices of one-litre packs by ₹1 per litre across India," GCMMF managing director Jayen Mehta told PTI.
"This is to encourage consumers to buy larger packs of milk and get incentive for the same," he said.
In Delhi, the rate of Amul Gold milk has been reduced to ₹67 from ₹68 per litre while price of Amul Taaza will now be ₹55 from ₹56 per litre earlier.
GCMMF's turnover increased 8 per cent to ₹59,445 crore in the 2023-24 financial year.
Mehta had earlier said that the cooperative is expecting double-digit growth in revenue during this fiscal on strong demand.
GCMMF handled 310 lakh litres of milk per day on average during the last fiscal. It has a total annual milk processing capacity of around 500 lakh litres.
GCMMF is the world's largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative having 36 lakh farmers across 18,600 villages of Gujarat and its 18 member unions procure 300 lakh litres of milk per day.
It also ranks 8th among the top 20 dairy companies in the world in terms of milk processing, as per the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN).
Besides the domestic market, GCMMF is exporting dairy products to about 50 countries.
Last year, GCMMF entered the US market with the launch of four variants of fresh milk to cater to the Indian diaspora and Asian population.

For the first time, Amul fresh milk will be available outside India, with the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) launching four variants of milk in the US market within a week, to cater to Indian diaspora and Asian population.
"We have been exporting dairy products for many decades. This is the first time we are launching fresh milk outside India," GCMMF MD Jayen Mehta told PTI.

He said "the GCMMF has tied up with 108-year old cooperative organisation Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) to launch fresh milk in the US market". The milk collection and processing will be done by MMPA, while GCMMF will do marketing and branding of Amul fresh milk.
"Recipe will be ours. Within one week, Amul Taaza, Amul Gold, Amul Shakti and Amul Slim n Trim will be available in the US market," he said.
Mehta said fresh milk will be available in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Washington, Dallas and Texas among others.
GCMMF will target non-resident Indians (NRIs) and the Asian population.
Asked about the selling target, he said GCMMF will focus on branding and marketing for the next 3-4 months.
"We are expecting a good response from customers," he said.
Mehta said GCMMF would also launch fresh milk products like paneer, curd and butter milk in the near future.
During the 2022-23 fiscal, the turnover of GCMMF stood at around Rs 55,000 crore, up 18.5% from the previous year.
GCMMF is already exporting dairy products in about 50 countries.

Continuing his offensive against the ruling BJP, after Amul announced its plans to sell milk and curd in the Bengaluru market, Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Sunday tweeted asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was visiting Karnataka on Sunday, whether the purpose of his visit was "to loot the state".
Alleging that the State's milk production had been affected since the day Union Cooperative Minister Amit Shah spoke about the possibility of merging the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) with Amul, the former Chief Minister in a series of tweets asked the Prime Minister what his role had been in this.
Amul's move is being seen by many, especially opposition parties, as a threat to KMF's famed dairy brand 'Nandini'. They also see it as an attempt to trample upon KMF, amid a narrative around its merger with Amul.

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets its dairy products under the brand name 'Amul', on Friday increased the prices of milk by Rs 2 per litre for all markets except Gujarat.
Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of the Anand-headquartered federation, said the hike in milk prices is not applicable to Gujarat.
"We have increased the milk prices by Rs 2 per litre for markets other than Gujarat, such as Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. As of now, there is no increase in milk prices in Gujarat," he told PTI.
The new prices are effective from Friday morning, the GCMMF said in a statement issued by its Mumbai office.
With the increase in prices, one litre pouch of Amul Taaza milk will now cost Rs 54, while one litre of Amul Gold will be sold at Rs 66, the statement said, adding that one litre pouch of cow milk will now cost Rs 56, while Amul A2 buffalo milk pouch will cost Rs 70 from Friday.
