Officials said that the website was hacked on Tuesday with the hackers replacing the last name &ldquo;Allahabadi&rdquo; of some renowned poets with &ldquo;Praygaraj&rdquo;. The great hack is in an "apparent resentment" of the change of the name this historical city, an official told PTI.
The renowned poets and litterateurs whose last name "Allahabadi" was replaced by &ldquo;Prayagraj&rdquo; included Akbar Allahabadi, Tej Allahabadi and Rasheed Allahabadi, the Commission&rsquo;s chairman Ishwar Charan Vishwakarma told PTI.
The Commission, however, was able to restore its Hindi website and the work is on to restore its English portal. A complaint about the incident has been lodged with the Cyber Cell of the city police.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday entrusted Allahabad high court to monitor the CBI probe into the gang-rape and murder of a dalit girl in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras. The Supreme Court was hearing a batch of pleas which have sought a court-monitored probe into the Hathras case, in which a Dalit girl was allegedly brutally raped and died of injuries.
A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde said that plea for transfer of trial out of Uttar Pradesh in the case would be considered later after the CBI probe is completed.

The Allahabad High Court has expressed concern over the fact that the UP Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act is being &lsquo;misused against innocent&nbsp;persons&rsquo;. The HC&nbsp;emphasised&nbsp;that a solution needs to be found to handle abandoned cows, if the legislation is to be implemented in &ldquo;letter and spirit&rdquo;. The HC made this observation while delivering bail to one&nbsp;Rahmuddin, who has been accused under the Act.&nbsp;The order said that even when the cows are &ldquo;shown to be recovered&rdquo;, no proper recovery memo is prepared and one does not know where the cows go after recovery.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court said in its order issued after hearing on Monday that the&nbsp;Hathras&nbsp;victim&rsquo;s fundamental right of decent cremation was infringed upon by UP authorities.&nbsp;The bench of 2 judges which heard the testimonies of the&nbsp;victim&rsquo;s family&nbsp;as well as&nbsp;Hathras DM and UP ADG Law and Order, said that it has so far not been given a good reason "as to why they could not hand over the body to the family members for some time, say for even half an hour, to enable them to perform their rituals at home and thereafter to cremate it either in the night or next day."&nbsp;The HC order, a copy of which is available which was made&nbsp;avaliable&nbsp;on Tuesday&nbsp;noted &ldquo;such valuable rights cannot be trampled or trifled casually or whimsically especially when those likely to be deprived are of the downtrodden class, uneducated and poor&rdquo;.&nbsp;

Hathras girl's kin to appear before Allahabad HC on Monday

Hathras: Victim's family members to appear before Allahabad High Court on Monday to narrate their version of the incident when their daughter was cremated in the middle of the night.&nbsp;

The family members of a 19-year-old Dalit woman, who died after allegedly being gangraped by four upper caste men in Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s&nbsp;Hathras&nbsp;district, will appear before the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Monday.&nbsp; The Dalit family will&nbsp;narrate their version of the events that led to the late-night cremation by police.&nbsp;On October 1, the court had taken&nbsp;suo motu cognizance&nbsp;of the fatal assault, especially&nbsp;her hurried cremation, and directed the kin of the deceased to appear before it to hear their version of the incident that took place in the middle of the night.&nbsp;The court had also ordered senior officials of the state government and police, including of the district, to be present for the next hearing and to arrange for the travel of the family.&nbsp;

The UP govt has decided to name and shame people accused of sexual harassment and other crimes against women. The Yogi govt is planning Operation Durachari under which it will put up posters carrying pictures of accused at prominent road crossings in the state. The directions were issued by CM Yogi Adityanath to instil&nbsp;confidence among women and check crime against them, an official spokesperson said on Thursday. The CM also directed that those involved in such crimes should be punished by women police

Lucknow, PTI: The authorities in Uttar Pradesh will put up posters carrying pictures of people accused of sexual harassment and other crimes against women at prominent road crossings in the state.
The directions were issued by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to instill confidence among women and check crime against them, an official spokesperson said on Thursday.
"The CM at a high-level meeting here on Thursday directed to put up posters of those involved in crimes against women at prominent crossings. He has also directed that those involved in such crimes should be punished by women police," the spokesman said.
The CM said in case of any crime against a woman, police officers of the area such as the SHO and Circle Officer will be made responsible.
The "anti-Romeo squads" constituted in all districts of the state to instil a sense of security among women have been made more active and the CM hailed their efforts, the official said.
The squad, which is active in every district of the state, was constituted to control incidents of molestation and check their harassment.
Earlier, the state government had put up posters of anti-CAA protesters, allegedly involved in damaging public property, at prominent road crossings in Lucknow.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi stressed on building a better image of police so that women could trust them.
According to a statement, Awasthi reviewed efforts made by police for women security in Allahabad, Agra, Bareilly, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Varanasi and Gorakhpur.
Since the constitution of the &ldquo;anti-Romeo squads&rdquo;, more than 83 lakh people have been &ldquo;checked at over 35 lakh places&rdquo;, including schools, colleges, markets, malls and parks, the statement said.
FIRs have been lodged against 7,351 people while 11,564 arrested, it said.
At the meeting, Awasthi instructed officials concerned that any untoward incident against women and girls should be stopped and strict action should be taken against the culprits.
