New Delhi, July 23 (PTI) - Streaming giant Netflix has officially commenced production on the highly anticipated second season of the Korean zombie thriller series, "All of Us Are Dead."
Announcing the news across its social media platforms, Netflix stirred excitement with this tantalizing update.
The company posted on Instagram: "Just when you thought you were back to normal life, a new zombie virus swallows Seoul. 'All of Us Are Dead' season two in production," alongside a teaser video.
The young-adult series, which originally premiered on Netflix in 2022, quickly rose to international fame. Based on Joo Dong-geun's renowned webtoon, the series accumulated over 560 million viewing hours within 28 days of its debut.
The narrative, set in a high school, follows students as they contend with a deadly virus outbreak that transforms people into zombies.
The upcoming season will see the return of familiar faces such as Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-hyun, and Lomon. Joining the cast this season are Lee Min-jae, Yoon Ga-i, and "Squid Game" stars Kim Si-eun and Roh Jae-won. The outbreak expands to a new locale, forcing a fresh group of characters into the survival battle, according to a press release.
Netflix has also revealed the official logline for the second season. Following the traumatic zombie outbreak at Hyosan High, Nam On-jo, portrayed by Park Ji-hu, is now navigating life as a university student in Seoul while still grappling with past trauma and the loss of friends. However, when another wave of infection erupts in Seoul, she finds herself in yet another deadly struggle for survival, this time without her previous allies.
Season two will be directed by Lee JQ and Kim Nam-su, who were at the helm for the first season. The script is penned by Chun Sung-il, known for works such as "King the Land" and "Your Honor."
