NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said a decision has to be taken on those who violated the party line and joined the Eknath Shinde government, indicating that action would be taken against Ajit Pawar and other leaders who became part of the ruling dispensation.
In a surprising move, Ajit Pawar took oath as the deputy chief minister, while eight MLAs of his Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) took oath as ministers in the government led by the Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earlier in the day.
Addressing a press conference here, Sharad Pawar said his endeavour after this development would be to travel as much as possible within state and the country, and build relations with people.
Pawar said he would not fight over anyone saying anything by taking the NCP's name, but would go to people instead.
"Those who violated the party line and took oath, a decision has to be taken on them," he said.
He said some party leaders were nervous about probes by the Enforcement Directorate and named Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal, Dilip Walse-Patil, Hasan Mushrif.
"Today's episode (on his party MLAs joining the Shinde government) may be new for others, but not for me," he said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday said Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar is undeterred by the split in his party and can start afresh.
In a day of massive political developments, Ajit Pawar was sworn in as deputy chief minister in the Eknath Shinde government along with several of his colleagues.
In a tweet, Raut said, "I just spoke with NCP Sharad Pawar. He said he is firm and people's support is behind us. We can make a fresh start with Uddhav Thackeray.&rdquo; Raut said people of Maharashtra will not tolerate such a "circus", an apparent reference to government formation through vertical splits in political parties, for long.
"Some people seem to be determined to completely spoil Maharashtra's politics. Let them proceed on their chosen path," said Raut, in an apparent reference to Ajit Pawar, CM Shinde and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Three years after he teamed up with Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar in an overnight coup to form the government in Maharashtra, deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said the exercise had NCP chief Sharad Pawar&rsquo;s backing.
&ldquo;We had an offer from the NCP that they needed a stable government and we should form such a government together. We decided to go ahead and hold talks. The talks happened with Sharad Pawar. Then things changed. You have seen how things changed,&rdquo; Fadnavis said, referring to Ajit Pawar quitting the government 80 hours later.
&ldquo;In all fairness I want to state that Ajit Pawar took oath with me with honesty... but later on their (NCP&rsquo;s) strategy changed,&rdquo; Fadnavis said, during an event organised by TV9 news channel.
Responding to Fadnavis&rsquo; remarks, Sharad Pawar said, &ldquo;I felt that Devendra is a cultured person and a gentleman. I never felt that he will take recourse to falsehood and make such a statement.&rdquo;
The BJP had won 105 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the results of which were announced on October 24, 2019. The Shiv Sena, which was in an alliance with the BJP, won 56 seats. Despite having enough seats to form a government together, the two allies bickered over power-sharing &ndash; who will get the chief minister&rsquo;s post being the bone of contention &ndash; resulting in the Shiv Sena starting negotiations with the ideologically different Congress and NCP instead.
With no outcome in sight then, the Centre imposed President&rsquo;s Rule in Maharashtra on November 12. The Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP continued negotiations to form an alliance, and Sharad Pawar later announced that Uddhav Thackeray had been unanimously chosen to head the new government. Thus, the early morning oath-taking ceremony of Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar on November 23 came as a surprise.
In one of the biggest political surprises in Maharashtra, then Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari swore in Devendra Fadnavis as the Chief Minister and Ajit Pawar as Deputy Chief Minister. The ministry lasted three days, after which Uddhav Thackeray was sworn in as the chief minister.

In both cases, it was this NCP leader - Sonia Doohan - who was at the centre of the action. In the latest incident, two NCP leaders were arrested from a Goa resort on July 2. It was the Taj Resort in Convention Centre in Goa where the rebel Sena MLAs were staying. NCP's Sonia Doohan, and Shray Kothiyal had tried to check into the hotel, but were arrested after being accused of using fake IDs. The two politicians were granted bail on 3 July.
The rebel MLAs had been tipped-off that a woman at the resort was asking about them, according to news reports quoting sources. The incident was compared to another episode two and a half years ago, when some NCP MLAs sneaked out of a hotel during the short-lived alliance between Ajit Pawar and BJP's Devendra Fadnavis.

Five NCP legislators had been taken to BJP-ruled Haryana, and housed on the fifth floor of a hotel in Gurugram. Sonia Doohan claimed that she booked rooms on all floors of the hotel, except the fifth floor. NCP claimed that heavy security had been deployed at the hotel to keep the MLAs trapped.
Doohan said that in order to free the MLAs, she mapped a route inside the hotel which would not have CCTV cameras. Subsequently, one NCP MLA was taken out of the back gate which was linked to another hotel. When two more were being taken out, uproar broke out.
Doohan said that she had to leave her own car at the hotel, and take another vehicle to drive the 2 MLAs to Sharad Pawar's house in Delhi. Then, the fourth MLA was "rescued" at 2:30 at night.
So, who is Sonia Doohan, the protagonist in these escapades? She is the national president of the student wing of the Nationalist Congress Party.
She hails from Petwar village in Haryana's Hisar, and her family is engaged in farming. She studied at a village school, before graduating from Kurukshetra University. Doohan also trained to be a pilot in Pune, which is when she got involved in student politics.
After the latest incident, Doohan has claimed that police, Black Cat commandos, and political party workers detained her from the Goa resort at 5:30 am on July 2.
The NCP has come to Sonia Doohan's defence, claiming that their two leaders had gone to Goa as tourists, and not politicians. The party said that Goa's BJP government was keeping an eye on Doohan due to the 2019 episode, and the duo checked into the resort using Shray Kothiyal's ID. Also, Sonia Doohan used Shray's wife's ID, and not a fake document, NCP said.
The incident shows that although the Maharashtra political crisis dominated headlines for days, it was the tip of the iceberg as even more drama was playing out in the background.

 Amid the deepening political turmoil in Maharashtra, state Congress president Nana Patole on Thursday accused Deputy Chief Minister and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar of harassing Congress legislators and ministers by stalling their development funds.
Patole's statement was in reference to some rebel Shiv Sena MLAs targeting the NCP for denying development funds to them.
NCP and Congress are part of the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. Ajit Pawar is the state finance minister.
"Ajit Pawar has harassed Congress MLAs and ministers also. We opposed this tactics saying the government was for the welfare of people. Our opposition to such tactic was not political," Patole said.
When asked about Patole's allegation, senior NCP leader and minister Chhagan Bhujbal played down his remarks saying, "Even within parties, leaders complain against each other. So this is not anything that can be taken seriously." The MVA government is on the brink of collapse after Shiv Sena minister Eknath Shinde rebelled against the party and went to Guwahati in Assam with some rebel MLAs.
Rebel Sena MLA Sanjay Shirsat has written a letter to CM Thackeray claiming that Shinde took the step of going against the party leadership as Sena MLAs, who faced "humilitation" for the last two-and-a-half years, persuaded him to do so. In the letter, Shirsat also said Shinde opened doors for the party MLAs to listen to their grievances, issues about development work in their constituencies and related fund, and problems with allies Congress and NCP.
