Reports said that the system against drone attacks will consist of radio frequency detectors, electro-optical and infrared cameras, and radars.
The BSF is in the process of acquiring a ground-based standalone platform capable of detecting lone, suspicious flying objects or groups of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and reacting quickly, reports said.

With most reports saying that the stealth flying devices came from across the border, it is safe to presume that the drones travelled at least 14 kilometers without being spotted.&nbsp; Officials, however, said that possibility of the drone being controlled from India could not be ruled out.

Officials of the anti-terror agency and the Jammu and Kashmir Police say that a clarity on where the drones had taken off and their flight path were yet to be reached.

Almost 24 hours after the incident, two drones were spotted over the Ratnuchak-Kaluchak military area on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday after security forces who opened fire forcing the drones to fly away.

Over a month later, interrogation of militants revealed that drones had dropped arms in Punjab in 8 sorties between September 9 and 16.

In the next year&rsquo;s summer in Jammu, the BSF shot down a drone carrying payload of 5kgs including a sophisticated US-made M4 semi-automatic carbine and seven Chinese grenades on June 22.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
Two months late on September 19, the J&amp;K Police arrested three LeT militants who had come to pick up an arms consignment dropped by drones in Rajouri district.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
Two AK assault rifles, three magazines with 90 rounds and a pistol with two magazines and 14 rounds which had been dropped by a Pakistani drone was seized in Akhnoor three days later.&nbsp;

A surveillance drone of Chinese make was shot down and seized by the Army on the Line of Control in Kupwara district on October 24, that year.&nbsp;

There were three more arms recoveries in Jammu and Punjab&rsquo;s Gurdaspur and among them was the Border Security Force recovering 14 Improvised Explosive Devices with inbuilt magnets or what is called the sticky bomb used by the Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan.&nbsp;

The matter of Pakistan using drones for surveillance and arms drop was even raised in Parliament earlier this year. Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy informed the Rajya Sabha that the govt was aware of such instances and has been taking various steps to meet such challenges.&nbsp;

While it is clear that the use of drones has been on rise since the reading down of Article 370, it also coincides with what many is Jammu and Kashmir security circles say the rise of militancy in the Jammu division particularly the Muslim dominated regions.&nbsp;

According to police data quoted by The Print its report, the J&amp;K Police arrested 25 people accused of working as overground workers to various militant organisations in 2020 in Jammu division. The figure for the same each year between 2015 and 2019 was not more than a dozen.&nbsp;

Moreover, a total of 13 encounters took place in Jammu last year, the Print reported. In 2015, this number was at 20, after which it was 13, 7, 16, and 9 in the following years until 2019, respectively.

With the use of drones becoming prevalent and the number of people joining militant ranks growing, a clear challenge lays ahead for the security forces in the region that has largely remained peaceful since the last decade.

The two IEDs weighing around 5-6 kilograms with RDX as the main explosive charge were dropped at a distance of 50 yards from each other, the report said quoting security officials.
According to security agencies and state police, the two drones flew from across the border, which is mere 14.5 kilometers away from the Jammu airport, and returned back after the hit. The drone is suspected to be flying at a height of 1.2 kilometers and would have been powered by long range batteries.

Two explosions within a gap of few minutes rocked the high security technical area of Jammu&nbsp;Air Force Station&nbsp;IAF&nbsp;on the intervening night of June 26-27.
The explosions reportedly took place around 2 am.
The first blast ripped off the roof of a building and the second one was on the ground.
Official statement from the Defence PRO stated that there was no injury to any personnel or any damage to equipment.
The area was sealed by security forces within minutes and bomb disposal and forensic teams were rushed to Jammu Airport. Police and forensic teams are trying to ascertain the cause of the mysterious explosions.
A massive search operation has been launched outside the Air Force station. Investigations are on and the matter is being probed from all angles. Terror angle has also not been ruled out.
Meanwhile,&nbsp;a suspected militant was arrested by J&amp;K Police from near a shopping mall in the jurisdiction of Trikuta Nagar Police station and an IED was seized from him.
