Police continue to search for one police officer who was accused of torture and extortion in a suicide note.

Agra is seeing heavy police deployment after two siblings reportedly died by suicide, which has now been connected to a case of police intimidation and harassment.
One of the brothers in his suicide note accused an inspector and a sub inspector of torturing the siblings, demanding cash in return for dismissing their case. While the accused sub-inspector has been arrested, the inspector has since been absconding.
"A heavy deployment of police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) has been made in the village in the Agra district to ensure that nothing untoward could happen following suicides by two brothers," Inspector General of Police Shalabh Mathur said, as per Indian Express.
The absconding Inspector has been identified as Mukesh Kumar. The name of the SI is Hari Om Agnihotri.
In his suicide note, the older brother claimed his sibling was not permitted to leave the police station for two days and was tortured. He said his brother was released on June 13 after they paid the police Rs 10,000 and promised to give the remaining Rs 90,000 in two instalments.

The couple said that they celebrated their 17th anniversary in front of a filthy drain because they wanted to grab the attention of Agra's public representatives and officials. This was done to highlight 15 years of issues with dirty water, poor roads and overall cleanliness concerns in the area.&nbsp;
The anniversary celebration in front of a drain included the attendance of fellow colony residents accompanied by a band playing instruments. &nbsp;Bhagwan Sharma said that they had plans to celebrate their wedding anniversary in Lakshadweep or Maldives. However, the bad sewer and waste disposal facilities in their area turned the road into a dirty drain, now known as 'Pushpdeep.' Residents reported that their pleas have yet to be addressed.&nbsp;

Police said they are probing the case and are awaiting the results of test conducted on the survior.&nbsp;

A woman working in a homestay here has allegedly been gang-raped and five persons, including a woman, have been arrested for it, police said on Sunday.
The victim, who is around 25 years of age, said that an objectionable video of her was made earlier and she was blackmailed over it, they said.
The woman was also forced to drink alcohol and a glass bottle was broken on her head, they said.
Police said a purported video of the woman crying for help has also surfaced. Apart from rape charges, attempt to murder charges have also been slapped against the accused, police said.
Police said they received a call from the victim late Saturday night, following which they rushed to the homestay and took action against the accused.
The incident happened on Saturday night at a homestay, said Archana Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sadar.
"Four men and a woman have been arrested after the incident. The medical examination of the victim will be done and legal action is being taken in the case.," the ACP said.
The homestay which is a rented property has been sealed, she said.
"We got a call at around midnight on Saturday from the victim who was crying for help. We rushed to the homestay and took action against the accused. The age of the victim is about 25 years old and she works at the homestay," in-charge of Basai police post, Mohit Sharma told PTI.
"She narrated the whole incident to us about being raped, and said she was beaten by the accused. They had also broken a glass bottle on her head. She was also forced to drink alcohol," he said.
"She also informed that the accused had made an objectionable video of her in the past, based on which they were blackmailing her," Sharma said.
All residents are residents of Agra, he said. A 25-year-old woman is also among those arrested in connection to the case.
"A case under IPC sections 376 (rape), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), among other relevant sections, and sections 7 and 8 of The Immoral Traffic Prevention Act has been lodged, he said.
Further legal action is being taken against the arrested accused, he added.&nbsp;

A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Agra as a teacher was shot at by two teen students. This incident took place on Thursday, October 5. After shooting the teacher in the leg, the minors fled from the scene and recorded a 25-second video in which they branded themselves as gangsters.&nbsp;
In the video that has been doing rounds on the internet, the teens can be heard saying that they will return after six months because they have to shoot the teacher 40 times, currently, 39 are remaining.&nbsp;
Agra Police further shared an update about this and said that the teenagers have been arrested and have been identified as Tarun and Uttam.
Police also said that the duo tried to kill the teacher. One of them was upset with Sumit because the teacher informed his family about the minor dating a girl at the coaching centre.&nbsp;
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sonam Kumar shared a video regarding this incident where he said this shooting took place outside the coaching centre in Khandoli town which lies in the rural belt of Agra.&nbsp;
Police further reported that the two minors called their teacher, Sumit, outside the coaching centre and then shot at him. Currently, Sumit is undergoing treatment.&nbsp;
It was further reported that the students are in custody now and they were arrested on Friday morning. A case has been registered against the teens under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.&nbsp; &nbsp;

In another addition to the Narendra Modi government's list of diplomatic achievements, the royal family of Denmark is on its first visit to India in two decades.
Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik Andr&eacute; Henrik Christian and Crown Princess Mary Elizabeth arrived in Delhi on 26 February 2023 for a 4-day visit. The royals visited the Taj Mahal in Agra on the first day of their trip. They will also tour Chennai before departing on 2 March.
The royal couple is learnt to be accompanied by Foreign Minister Lars L&oslash;kke Rasmussen, Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke and Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard.
"During the visit, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince will meet the Vice President and will address the opening session of the India-Denmark: Partners for Green and Sustainable Progress, organised by CII. He will also call-on President Droupadi Murmu," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said earlier.
The Crown Prince had earlier visited India in 2003. Before this, Queen Margrethe II had visited India in 1963 as Crown Princess.

A school principal in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra has been booked for allegedly siphoning Rs 11.46 crore of the Mid-Day Meal scheme.  An FIR registered against Chandrakant Sharma notes that he bungled the money with the help of officials of the basic education department and his family members.   A resident of Firozabad district, Sharma was working as a principal at a Primary School in Jajupur.   Police said to swindle the money, the Principal formed an NGO for which he used fake ration and identification cards in 2017.   According to the FIR, the teacher had made his father the president of the NGO, his mother the manager and secretary, and his wife a treasurer. He also designated other family members and relatives to various positions in the NGO. With the help of some officials, the police said, Sharma’s NGO got contract for distribution of Mid-Day Meal in basic education department schools of Firozabad.  He had withdrawn an amount of Rs 11,46,48,500 from the bank account of his NGO with the help of the officials and staff and transferred that amount into the bank accounts of his wife and children in Agra banks.

I was shocked to see that people had littered the most iconic monument of the world."
"I wanted to give a message to the people of the entire world that 'behind the beauty of Taj Mahal is plastic pollution'. I tweeted this message and got immense support from people all over the world. Authorities launched a cleanliness drive after my tweet," she said.
"On Saturday, I visited the banks of Yamuna behind the Taj Mahal and was so happy to see that the plastic waste that was lying there during my first visit about 10 days ago was almost entirely cleared due to the efforts of the local authorities.
"I appreciate the swift action," she added.
Kangujam underlined that this change should be permanent and not be short-lived.

The Allahabad High Court rejected a BJP leader's petition to ask the Archaeological Survey of India to open over 20 locked rooms to see if they house idols of Hindu gods.
But what is inside these mysterious rooms? Here's what historian and Taj researcher Ebba Koch told BBC.
The rooms were part of an underground chamber for summer months. 15 rooms are situated in a line along the riverfront, and are reached by a narrow corridor. 7 larger chambers extend by niches on each side, and there are 6 square-shaped rooms, 2 octagonal rooms. These are decorated with netted patterns, circles of stars, and medallions.
These probably served as a cool, recreational place for the visiting Mughal emperor, but the chamber does not receive natural light now. These underground galleries are common in Mughal architecture, as per Koch.
The BBC quoted another historian, Rana Safvi, as saying that the underground rooms were open to visitors until a flood in 1978. Water had entered the mausoleum, and some of the underground rooms were silted.
Some chambers even suffered cracks, according to Safvi. The rooms have been closed for public ever since, but are opened for restoration work, according to the report.

Police is at the spot. Fire has been doused. Peace is prevailing now. FIR is being registered. Soon, arrests will take place. Over lapses, Runakta chowki in-charge has been suspended, and a probe has been ordered against the station house officer. If he is found to have committed lapses, he will face strict action."
