British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace told the UK newspaper Mail on Sunday that, 'no nation will be able to get everyone out' before the U.S. deadline of August 31.

"Our sincere thoughts are with the families of the seven Afghan civilians who have sadly died in crowds in Kabul," a British defence ministry spokesman said.

All the scary and surreal images coming out of Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover have stunned the world. The return of Taliban has also fueled concerns over women right in the country given the Taliban's infamous track record.
But first promising signs emerged on Tuesday as the country's biggest TV network put out images of its female anchors and reporters doing their job as usual.

Tolo News tweeted images of women anchoring and reporting from outdoor locations in Kabul. And no they are not covered in infamous hijab as was the fear.
Not just that, Tolo News also tweeted a video of a woman anchor interviewing a Taliban leader in their studio. Something that would have been unimaginable during the earlier Taliban rule.
The tweet showed a TV clip from the news channel shows host Beheshta Arghand interviewing Mawlawi Abdulhaq Hemad, a close member of the Taliban&rsquo;s media team, about Kabul&rsquo;s situation and house-to-house searches in the city.

The official, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity said the new assessment of how long Kabul could stand was a result of the Taliban's rapid gains.
On Tuesday a&nbsp;senior EU official said that the Taliban now control 65% of Afghanistan and have taken or threaten to take 11 provincial capitals.
The speed of the Taliban advance has shocked the governments worldwide. Taliban controlled most of Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001, and was ousted for harbouring Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden after the Sept. 11 attacks. The group now wants to defeat the U.S-backed Afghan government and re-impose strict Islamic law.

Here's what you should know about the intra-Afghan peace talks between the Afghan govt and the&nbsp;Taliban

Miles away from Afghanistan, two stakeholders sit down face to face on Saturday for the first time to discuss the country&rsquo;s future. The peace talks between the Afghan govt and Taliban are being held in Qatar&rsquo;s capital Doha, the city of Taliban&rsquo;s political office, after the Afghan govt released the last batch of 6 Taliban prisoners on Thursday.&nbsp;
&nbsp;The intra-Afghan peace talks were supposed to start in March this year but were delayed as Afghanistan did not initially agree to the pre-condition of prisoner swap set by Taliban in its peace deal with the US. Taliban wanted the Afghan govt, which was not part of the US-Taliban negotiations, to release 5000 Taliban prisoners and in exchange the group would release 1000 govt &amp; military personnel&nbsp;
There are two important issues that will dominate these talks &ndash; a complete and permanent ceasefire and a political power-sharing arrangement. While the Afghan govt insists that a ceasefire is its utmost priority the Taliban is not likely to agree to it till a political settlement favourable to them is reached. &nbsp;
The two sides are being represented by 21 people each. The Afghan govt delegation will be led by Masoom Stanekzai, a former head of Afghanistan&rsquo;s intelligence agency while the Taliban will be led by&nbsp;Sheikh Abdul Hakim, the&nbsp;group's former chief justice&nbsp;and a close aide of the group's chief. The Afghan govt team has four women delegates who will be key in ensuring that women&rsquo;s right are safeguarded in any deal reached between the two sides. &nbsp;
