3,754 more people succumbed to the virus, according to the Union Ministry data updated at 8 am. The Ministry emphasised that over 70% fatalities occurred due to comobidities. The highest number of deaths were recorded in Maharashtra, followed by Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Tamil Nadu.

During a press briefing over Covid-19 situation in the country, the Health Ministry said that 12 states are cause for concern as they have more than 1 lakh active cases.
The govt added that nearly 22 states have Covid&nbsp;positivity&nbsp;rates of over 15% and some&nbsp;states are showing upward trends as well, adding that&nbsp;Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Arunachal, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal must step up precautionary measures.
Overall, the govt said there has been a positive approach in recoveries. On May 2, the recovery rate was at 78% and on May 3 it climbed up to almost 82%.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reviewed the Covid-19&nbsp; situation with chief ministers, health ministers and other representatives of seven states with high case load.&nbsp;
These states are Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Punjab. According to officials &nbsp;more than 63 per of the active cases in the country are concentrated in these seven states.&nbsp;They also account for 65.5 per cent of the total confirmed cases and 77 per cent of the total deaths, a govt statement said.
Other than Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, the case positivity rate of these states has also been observed to be above the national average of 8.52%, the statement added.&nbsp;
