Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday refuted claims of any discord with party supremo Mamata Banerjee, asserting his unwavering allegiance to her.
"I am a loyal soldier of the TMC, and my leader is Mamata Banerjee," he declared at a party conference, dismissing speculation about internal differences.
Addressing rumors about a possible switch to the BJP, Banerjee firmly denied them, stating, "Those who are saying that I am joining BJP are spreading canards. Even with a severed head, I will say Mamata Banerjee Zindabad. Whatever is coming out in the news these days is a blatant lie. I know the people who are spreading such fake news with vested interests ahead of next year's assembly polls."
He urged party members to prioritize public service over internal conflicts, emphasizing unity within the party. "Forget about your own differences next year and concentrate on working for the people. There is no point in engaging in conspiracies. Those indulging in WhatsApp group politics should know that such efforts will be futile. Those conspiring will be impacted themselves," he said.
Reiterating his commitment to exposing disloyal members within the party, Banerjee recalled past instances where he had unmasked defectors. "In the past, I had identified those who betrayed the party, including Mukul Roy and Suvendu Adhikari. I took the responsibility of exposing them. In the coming days, I will continue to identify such people," he asserted.
He also issued a stern warning against indiscipline, cautioning party members against making statements solely for media attention. "Many leaders make statements to stay relevant in the media without adhering to party discipline. Do not disobey the party's rules. Those who have done so have already been identified," he warned.

The TMC appears to have taken a leaf out of the BJP's book, by basing its pitch on the "Bengal model of development". Here's that the TMC is promising in Tripura, to make the most in the 28 seats where it is contesting.
The TMC is saying that it would create 2 lakh new jobs in 5 years, with 50,000 of these in the first year itself. It would give ₹1,000 every month to 1 lakh jobless youth, and also to the 10,000 sacked teachers unless the matter reaches a legal resolution.
To woo the tribal vote, the TMC has promised an additional secretariat in north Tripura for tribal council work.
A main feature of the party manifesto is introduction of schemes already implemented in Bengal. Farmers in Tripura would get ₹10,000 every year. Poor families would get ₹2,000 as funeral assistance. Female heads of households would get income support. ₹25,000 would be given to impoverished families at the time of daughters' weddings.
On the education front, the TMC has promised a ₹1,000 annual scholarship for SC/ST students in classes 4 to 8. The party said it would set up a skill university, and issue student credit cards for easy education loans. Students would also be given bicycles.
Startup incubators would be set up in all 8 districts of the state.

The agency will continue to record the statement of Banerjee (34) in the case lodged under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they added.

That was the second time he was questioned in the case. He was first grilled by ED officials in September last year.
Banerjee's role and links with the other accused in the case are being investigated, ED officials had said.
While leaving the ED office on Monday, the TMC leader told reporters that he was a "law-abiding citizen" and hence, had "cooperated" in the investigation.
He alleged that probe agencies such as the ED, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax department are being used by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to "scare the opposition and its political personalities".
The last ED summons against Banerjee and his wife Rujira was issued after the Delhi High Court, on March 11, dismissed a plea moved by the couple, challenging the notices asking them to appear before the agency in Delhi instead of Kolkata.
Banerjee also filed a special leave petition (SLP) before the Supreme Court on Monday, challenging the ED summonses asking him to appear before the agency in Delhi.
The ED lodged the case on the basis of a November 2020 FIR registered by the CBI that alleged a multi-crore-rupee coal pilferage scam related to Eastern Coalfields Limited mines in West Bengal's Kunustoria and Kajora areas in and around Asansol.
Local coal operator Anup Majhi alias Lala is the prime suspect in the case.
The ED had claimed that Banerjee was a beneficiary of the funds obtained from this illegal trade.
The agency has so far made two arrests in the case. One of the arrested accused is Vikas Mishra, the brother of TMC's youth wing leader Vinay Mishra who is stated to have left the country and renounced his Indian citizenship.
The second arrested accused is former inspector in-charge of the Bankura police station Ashok Kumar Mishra.

The announcement is seen as a bid to assert Banerjee's control over the party, and stem dissension between a section of TMC's old guards and the next generation leaders.
"After Mamata Banerjee was re-elected as the chairperson of the party, she had announced a small committee to look after party affairs. Today there was a meeting of that committee, and in that meeting, she has announced the new national working committee of the party," Chatterjee said.
"Mamata Banerjee will later appoint the new office bearers and then it would be sent to the election commission," he added.

"We don't know how much below, but it is substantially below. And I am not blaming anybody, I am just saying," said the economist who won the Nobel Prize along with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer in 2019.
He also urged the students not to succumb to pressure from family or society in choosing their career paths, but have the "courage" to do what they really want to do in life.
He also informed the audience that he had spent 10 days in Tihar jail during his student days at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.
"When I was about to leave JNU and go to Harvard, I was in a student demonstration and then I was taken to Tihar jail, and kept there for ten days. When I came out, lots of elders told me that I have ruined my career, and Harvard or the US will never let you in. They thought I should be regretful," he said.
To make his point about choosing careers, Banerjee pointed out that two of India's great film-makers - Satyajit Ray and Shyam Benegal - were economics graduates but chose to walk a different path.
"Yet, they did fine in life. So, instead of specific training, what is really important is that you are a lively, thoughtful and open human being. That's the most important part," he said.
During the convocation, 833 students, including four doctoral students, of the private varsity were conferred degrees.

In a major organisational reshuffle, the Trinamool Congress on Saturday appointed MP Abhishek Banerjee as the party's national general secretary. The two-time MP&nbsp;Lok Sabha MP from Diamond Harbour was elevated to the post after a meeting of the TMC's working committee following the party's landslide victory in the recently-concluded&nbsp;West Bengal Assembly election. West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee&nbsp;said that&nbsp;the&nbsp;Trinamool Congress has decided to expand its organisational footprint beyond West Bengal.&nbsp; As a result,&nbsp;Abhishek Banerjee will step down&nbsp;as in-charge of the TMC youth wing. This position will now be filled by actor-turned-politician Saayoni Ghosh.

A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reached Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee's residence on Tuesday and questioned his wife Rujira Banerjee in connection with the alleged coal smuggling case. &nbsp;Rujira was summoned by the CBI in connection with the coal smuggling case. She had earlier said she was unaware of why was being questioned. She however agreed to meet the CBI at her residence between 11 am and 3 pm today. Abhishek Banerjee&rsquo;s aunt and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee visited the former&rsquo;s residence minutes before the CBI team landed there.
