In a written reply, Minister of state for information technology Rajeev Chandrashekhar, told the Lok Sabha that all the contact tracing data that was collected by the Aaryogya Setu App has been deleted and that feature itself has been discontinued.&nbsp; &ldquo;In accordance with the provisions of the said protocol, the contact tracing feature of the Aarogya Setu mobile application has been discontinued and contact tracing data collected through it has been deleted," Rajeev Chandrasekhar told the Lok Sabha.
During the pandemic, the Aarogya Setu app was used as a contact tracing platform. It helped keep track of and locate people that a covid positive person may have been in contact with. However, critics raised security related concerns over the contact tracing feature of the app.&nbsp;
The app was made mandatory during the pandemic for public and private sector employees as well as for travellers.&nbsp;

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has lauded the Aarogya Setu app developed in India that the government has been using to notify users about coronavirus cases. Tedros said the Aarogya Setu app has helped Indian health authorities identify coronavirus clusters and expand testing in those areas.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said, &ldquo;Aarogya Setu app from India has been downloaded by 150 million users and has helped city public health departments to identify areas where clusters could be anticipated and expand testing in a targeted way.&rdquo;
The&nbsp;Aarogya Setu app was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi&nbsp;in April as the country was going through the first phase of nationwide lockdown. Aarogya Setu app was received with mixed reviews and concerns over privacy issues.
