Aam Aadmi Party MLAs and volunteers coming to participate in the party's protest outside the BJP headquarters in Delhi against the "cheating" in the Chandigarh mayoral polls are being stopped or detained, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged on Friday.
Delhi Police said they have detained 25 AAP workers coming from Punjab and Haryana at the Singhu border. A few others have been stopped. Police said they suspect the workers were headed to take part in today's protest, and assured they would be released after verification.
Security has been stepped-up in Central Delhi with police barricading several roads leading to the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg and deploying additional personnel in view of the AAP demonstration as well as a protest by the BJP against "corruption" in the Kejriwal government.
The BJP will stage its protest near the AAP head office. The offices of both the parties are on the same road, a few hundred metres from each other.
"First votes were stolen in the Chandigarh mayoral elections. Now, people coming to protest peacefully against this are being stopped at various places across Delhi," Kejriwal said in a post on X, ahead of the demonstration scheduled to begin at 11 am.
In another post, he wrote that "across Delhi, they are detaining elected MLAs, councillors and volunteers, who were coming to the party office. What is going on?"
In a post on X, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi said, "Heavy barricading all across Delhi. Buses full of AAP volunteers being detained. Hundreds of para-military forces outside the AAP office."&nbsp;
The BJP on Tuesday swept the Chandigarh mayoral polls, retaining all three posts of mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor, in a setback to the Congress-AAP alliance which has alleged tampering with ballot papers by the presiding officer.&nbsp;

Sisodia displays 'proof' of Operation Lotus, targets Amit Shah

The senior AAP leader played the audio tape at a press conference and claimed the BJP "dalal" (broker) heard in the clip was one of the three people arrested in Telangana

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday produced an audio clip of an alleged BJP man purportedly discussing the party's bid to poach AAP MLAs in the capital and demanded Home Minister Amit Shah's arrest and ouster if he was involved in the matter.
The senior AAP leader played the audio tape at a press conference and claimed the BJP "dalal" (broker) heard in the clip was one of the three people arrested in Telangana over an alleged bid to poach that state's ruling party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs.
Ramachandra Bharati aka Satish Sharma, Nanda Kumar and Simhayaji Swamy were arrested by Telangana Police earlier this week for allegedly trying to coax four TRS legislators into defecting to the BJP.
He also showed their pictures with a senior RSS leader and two Union ministers and said their connection with the BJP rank and file was evident.
There was no immediate reaction from the BJP or Shah.
"In this audio, the BJP's dalal (broker) can be heard luring a (TRS) MLA to the BJP, saying they were also trying to poach 43 Delhi MLAs and that money had been kept aside for this purpose. He is also saying that he has spoken with Shah and BL Santhosh," Sisodia said.
"If it is Home Minister Amit Shah the BJP dalal is referring to, he should immediately be arrested and questioned," the Delhi deputy chief minister said.
He also demanded that Shah be sacked as the home minister if he was involved in the conspiracy under "Operation Lotus".

Sisodia said the audio tape was a "proof" of the BJP's failed attempt to poach AAP MLAs in Delhi and Punjab and demanded a probe by the Enforcement Directorate into the matter.
"It is very dangerous for a country if its home minister is involved in such a conspiracy," he said.
When asked how the clip substantiated the involvement of the two senior BJP leaders, he said, "If the ED and the CBI find some time, they will come to know who those being referred to as B L Santhosh and Shah in the conversation are." &ldquo;Everybody knows B L Santhosh. The BJP's broker has named Amit Shah ji, the country's home minister, as the number two in the recorded conversation,&rdquo; he added.
Sisodia also demanded a probe into the source of the money used by the BJP for "Operation Lotus".
In a separate press conference, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh demanded that the Election Commission immediately de-recognise the BJP as a political party.
"The BJP has become a kidnapping gang. It is no more a political party as it poaches other party MLAs to topple their government. It has become a group which murders democracy. I demand that the Election Commission immediately de-recognise the BJP," he said.

Kejriwal said the BJP did not offer free and quality education, healthcare and free electricity to BJP workers and their family members but AAP will care for their welfare.&nbsp;
&ldquo;You (BJP workers) can stay in that party but work for AAP. Many of them get paid (by BJP), so take the payment from there but work for us, because we do not have money,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;
&ldquo;When we form a government, we will provide free electricity, and this will apply to your houses as well. We will provide you with free, 24-hour power, and build good schools for your children where they will get free education. We will ensure free and quality treatment for your family members and offer Rs 1,000 to women (as allowance) in your family,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;
Appealing to the saffron party workers, Kejriwal said there is no point staying in the BJP and ensuring its victory again after 27 years of rule.&nbsp;
"I would like to tell all the BJP workers to stay there but work for the AAP. You are smart, work for AAP from the inside,&rdquo; he further said.&nbsp;
He raised the issue of the recent attack on Gujarat AAP general secretary Manoj Sorathiya and apprehended that many more attacks will take place &ldquo;on the people of Gujarat for supporting AAP&rdquo;.&nbsp;
"The attack on Manoj Sorathiya shows that BJP is desperate. It is not able to understand what to do. It is staring at a defeat,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;
Kejriwal said AAP is not like Congress and cannot be intimidated by the ruling party.&nbsp; Challenging the ruling BJP, he said, &ldquo;You have dealt with Congress so far, but we are AAP people. We consider Sardar Patel and Bhagat Singh as our ideals&rdquo;.&nbsp;
Kejriwal said if BJP thinks it can scare AAP by orchestrating such attacks, then it is wrong.&nbsp;
"We are not going to be scared. We are not cowards. We will fight hard against injustice and corruption. Six crore people of Gujarat now have an alternative (in AAP). They will respond to the 27 years of misgovernance (of BJP),&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;
He appealed to people to not resort to violence.&nbsp;
"I would like to tell the people that the number of attacks will increase in the coming 2-3 months not just on AAP but on the people. They will attack those people who say they will vote for AAP. Those who speak against BJP will be attacked. They are going to attack people in large numbers,&rdquo; the AAP leader said.&nbsp;
He said that people shouldn&rsquo;t resort to violence but stay patient and express anger by pressing the (EVM) button to vote out BJP.
Kejriwal, who has announced a string of &ldquo;guarantees&rdquo; in a bid to reach out to various sections of the society in Gujarat, said he had met representatives of police personnel, anganwadi and ASHA workers, health workers, traffic cops, gram raksha dal (GRD), auto drivers, and home guards among others during his multiple visits to the state.&nbsp;
The AAP leader said he will meet every group separately in the coming days.&nbsp;
&ldquo;We have less time. All of you should promote us in your own ways. Especially promote us on social media&hellip;Set social media on fire. I would like to appeal to you all to promote the AAP on social media. We will meet you separately and will resolve your issues,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;
The assembly elections in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are slated to be held in December this year.&nbsp; Kejriwal also attacked the state government for forming a committee of three ministers to listen to the grievances of protesting groups.&nbsp;
"Your intention is not right. You do not want to (resolve the issues of protesting groups). You will offer them lollipops and mislead them. I would like to tell you all to not listen to them,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;
On the last day of his two-day Gujarat visit on Saturday, Kejriwal is scheduled to attend a &lsquo;townhall&rsquo; meeting of sarpanches and &lsquo;village computer entrepreneurs&rsquo; in Surendranagar.&nbsp;
He will visit Surat city in the evening to take part in &lsquo;aarti&rsquo; at a Ganesh pandal, which has been set up outside the AAP&rsquo;s office in the Seemada Naka area and named &lsquo;AAP Ka Raja&rsquo;.&nbsp;

AAP's national spokesperson Sanjay Singh said AAP legislators have been offered Rs 20 crore each if they join the party and Rs 25 crore if they bring other MLAs.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed on Wednesday that the BJP has approached four of its legislators in Delhi, asking them to switch sides and join the saffron party or else, face "false cases, the CBI and the ED".
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, AAP's national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said the legislators -- Ajay Dutt, Sanjeev Jha, Somnath Bharati and Kuldeep -- have been approached by leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with whom they have "friendly relations".
"They have been offered Rs 20 crore each if they join the party and Rs 25 crore if they bring other MLAs along with them," Singh said.
"They (BJP leaders) told our MLAs that if they do not accept the offer and join the BJP, they will also have to face false cases, the CBI and the ED like (Delhi Deputy Chief Minister) Manish Sisodia is facing," he added.
Singh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making efforts to bring AAP legislators into the BJP-fold "by hook or crook" and topple the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi.
The four AAP MLAs who have allegedly been approached by the BJP were also present at the press conference.&nbsp;
Earlier this week, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia claimed that he was approached by the BJP with the offer to close all cases against him if he joined their party.
