The AAP announces it will not participate in the upcoming mayoral elections for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, opting to play a strong opposition role while accusing BJP of malpractice during the delimitation process.

The AAP on Monday announced that it will not contest the upcoming elections for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
The polls are scheduled to be held on April 25.
Addressing a press conference, former Delhi chief minister and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, said, "The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will play the role of a strong opposition in the MCD as well. BJP did a lot of rigging during the MCD elections but still it lost badly. Even after this, it did not stop and all the councillors were poached." She said her party does not believe in the "politics of sabotage and horse-trading" and has, therefore, decided not to participate in the mayoral contest.
"Now the BJP should form its triple engine government and fulfil its promises made to the people of Delhi without any excuses," Atishi said.
AAP's Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj, who was also present at the press conference, accused the BJP of indulging in malpractice during the delimitation process.
"The BJP had stopped the MCD election earlier too. Wards were shifted during delimitation. There was huge fraud and corruption during the process. Despite this, BJP lost the election and AAP formed the government," Bharadwaj said.
He also alleged that BJP councillors have tried to disrupt MCD meetings.
"After much drama by BJP councillors and ongoing defections, we have decided not to field our candidate this time," he said.
The BJP's current strength in the MCD has increased to 119 following multiple defections from the AAP over the past few months. Both MPs and MLAs nominated to the MCD are eligible to vote in the upcoming elections.
According to a notice issued by the MCD Secretary's Office, the corporation will hold its ordinary meeting on April 25, with the elections for mayor and deputy mayor scheduled for 2 pm.&nbsp;

AAP leader and Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi, has termed the suspension of 21 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs as an attack on democracy and urged Speaker Vijender Gupta to ensure fairness and protect democratic values.&nbsp;
In a letter to the Speaker on Friday, she called the action unjust and a severe blow to democratic principles.
"I am writing this letter with great pain and sorrow. The biggest strength of democracy is its fairness and equality. But whatever happened in the Delhi Assembly in the past few days is not only an injustice to the opposition MLAs but also a severe blow to democratic values," Atishi stated in her letter.
She alleged that "no action" was taken against any MLA from the ruling party. "On 25 February 2025, during the address of Lt Governor, MLAs of the ruling party raised slogans of 'Modi-Modi,' while the opposition MLAs raised slogans of 'Jai Bhim,' respecting the views of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. It is very unfortunate that no action was taken against any MLA of the ruling party, but 21 MLAs of the opposition were suspended from the House for 3 days for raising the slogan 'Jai Bhim'," she added.
Atishi further claimed that the "injustice did not stop" there. She stated that when the suspended MLAs attempted to protest peacefully in front of Mahatma Gandhi&rsquo;s statue within the assembly premises, they were stopped 200 meters before the gate and "were prevented from entering the assembly premises."
She described the incident as an "insult" not only to the MLAs but also to the people's mandate. "You are the guardian of this assembly. It is the duty of the guardian to do equal justice to all the MLAs, whether they are from the ruling party or the opposition. I urge you to protect the democratic values and ensure that no MLA is deprived of his constitutional rights," Atishi wrote.
The controversy erupted on February 25 when tensions flared in the Delhi Assembly. Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended AAP MLAs, including Atishi and Gopal Rai, amid an uproar before the tabling of the CAG report.

Calling the move "unprecedented," Atishi questioned the Speaker&rsquo;s decision to bar elected representatives from entering the Assembly complex.&nbsp;
"They are saying that the Speaker has ordered that your MLA should be stopped at the gate of Delhi Vidhan Sabha. They have been removed for a three-day sitting as per the orders. But never in the history of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, or even the Parliament of the country, has an elected representative been denied entry in such a manner," she said.

She further criticized the deployment of police to enforce the restriction. "If an MLA is suspended, their entry into the House is restricted. However, stopping them 50 meters away from the gate using police barricades is unheard of in the history of any legislative body in the country," she remarked. Despite the suspension, she asserted that AAP would continue to fight back.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders defended the Speaker&rsquo;s decision. BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay stated, "The House will run by law. If they (the opposition) create ruckus and anarchy there (in the House), then the Speaker will take a decision. The decision taken by the Speaker is final." MLA Ravindra Singh Negi accused AAP of disregarding constitutional norms, saying, "You (opposition) are roaming around with the picture of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, but you should follow the Constitution as told by him... They (AAP) think that they are still in power, but they should remember that they are out of power now."&nbsp;
Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma also criticized AAP MLAs, stating, "They (AAP) MLAs cannot raise slogans when the LG is addressing the House. If they break the laws like this, it is not good."
The controversy erupted as tensions between AAP and the BJP-led Delhi government escalated. On Tuesday, Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended 12 AAP MLAs, including Atishi and Gopal Rai, ahead of the tabling of the CAG report.
Following their denied entry, Atishi and other suspended AAP MLAs staged a protest outside the Assembly, holding 'Jai Bhim' placards. She labeled the move "undemocratic and unconstitutional," questioning why suspended legislators were being barred from even entering the premises.

Speaking to ANI, Atishi said, "Police officers are saying that we (AAP MLAs) are suspended from the assembly, so we will not even be allowed to enter the assembly premises. She cited examples from other legislative bodies to argue against the move. "If you see Delhi Legislative Assembly, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, elected legislators are never stopped. Even when suspended in Parliament, an elected parliamentarian is never stopped. Therefore, protests often take place in Parliament even after being suspended under the Gandhi statue. Often even in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, when the Bharatiya Janata Party was in opposition, they used to protest under the statue of Gandhi ji under the statue of Ambedkar."
Reaffirming her stance, she added, "We are suspended from the House. Being suspended from the House does not mean that we are suspended from the Assembly premises. We are elected legislators. We have the right to go to the Assembly premises. How are we being prevented from going to the Assembly premises?"
The situation remains tense as AAP continues to protest against the suspension and entry restrictions, accusing the BJP-led government of undermining democratic principles.

Speculation arose after the Aam Aadmi Party nominated Rajya Sabha MP Sanjiv Arora as its candidate for the Ludhiana West assembly by-election, leading to assumptions that Kejriwal could take over Arora&rsquo;s vacated seat.

He criticized the newly formed BJP-led government, stating that removing a portrait of India's first Law Minister was an insult to millions of his followers.
In a post on X, the former Delhi CM wrote, "The new BJP government of Delhi removed Babasaheb's photo and put up the photo of Prime Minister Modi. This is not right. This has hurt millions of followers of Babasaheb."&nbsp;
He urged the BJP to reconsider, saying, "I have a request to BJP. You can put the photo of the Prime Minister, but do not remove the photo of Babasaheb. Let his photo remain there."
In response, AAP staged a protest outside the Delhi Assembly, displaying Ambedkar&rsquo;s portrait as a mark of defiance. This protest coincided with the BJP government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, presenting the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the Delhi Excise Policy in the Assembly.&nbsp;

BJP demands cancellation of Sheesh Mahal&rsquo;s property merger, accusing Arvind Kejriwal of corruption. The party vows that the next Delhi CM won&rsquo;t stay in the controversial bungalow.

The BJP on Monday requested Lt Governor VK Saxena to cancel the merger of four properties with the "Sheesh Mahal" (6, Flagstaff Road) that was used by the party as a political weapon to target AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal over corruption issues during recent Assembly polls.&nbsp;
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that the bungalow was expanded by merging four government properties and he has written to the Lt Governor VK Saxena for cancelling the amalgamation of those properties.
He said that the new government to be formed by the party will take a call regarding future use of the bungalow and added "The next Chief Minister of Delhi will not stay in it."&nbsp;
The reconstructed bungalow was the official residence of Arvind Kejriwal as Delhi Chief Minister from 2015 till October 2024 when he vacated it after resigning from the post under fire from the BJP over corruption charges.
Newly elected BJP MLA from Rohini, Vijendra Gupta, who was Leader of Opposition in the 7th Delhi Assembly dissolved last week, said that the Chief Minister of BJP will not live in the bungalow as it was under investigation over alleged irregularities.&nbsp;
Gupta said that the land of the demerged properties and used the land for other official purposes like the construction of government quarters.&nbsp;
The BJP for more than two years, more so during the Assembly election campaign, hit hard at Kejriwal levelling allegations of corruption including irregularities in the reconstruction of the bungalow and lavish interiors, high-end domestic goods and fixtures there.&nbsp;
Kejriwal transformed the bungalow into "an ultra-luxurious 'Sheesh Mahal' by "illegally annexing" neighbouring government properties, Gupta wrote to the LG.&nbsp;
"The scope of these unauthorized alterations is particularly concerning. What was meant to be a standard official residence has been transformed into a lavish complex spanning more than 50,000 square meters," he charged in the letter.&nbsp;
He said that the merged properties included eight Type-V flats at 45 and 47 Rajpur Road, and the two government bungalows (8-A and 8-B Flag Staff Road) with the 6, Flagstaff road bungalow.&nbsp;
"I urgently request your intervention to restore these properties to their original independent status and return 6-lag Staff Road to its previous area of less than 10,000 square meters," he said.&nbsp;
Gupta also requested the LG to expedite the ongoing investigation into these alleged violations, saying swift action is crucial for ensuring accountability and restoring public trust in government institutions.

Taking a dig at AAP's leadership, he added, "Their (AAP) meetings are taking place in Delhi, Kejriwal should have gone there (Punjab). Several of their MLAs are in contact with different parties. They will fall in such a manner and a number of people will leave the party. I would like to urge the high command that we desist from taking their MLAs and ministers."
When asked about reports suggesting that AAP MLAs were in touch with the BJP, Randhawa pointed to Mann's long-standing connection with Delhi. "If they are in touch with them, I think Punjab will be harmed in the future," he said.
Predicting political instability, he stated, "There will be mid-term polls. If a few leaders go to the BJP, then there will be bypolls. Bhagwant Mann has no control... So it is likely that there will be mid-term polls. If they (AAP MLAs) go, they will come in the Congress because the BJP has no future in Punjab."
Criticizing the Mann-led government, Randhawa asserted that Punjab needs a government that prioritizes the welfare of its people. "I need to ask Bhagwant Mann that there have been 12 hand-grenade attacks in Punjab, what has he done about it?" he questioned.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the people of Delhi for putting an end to the "lies and deception" politics of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) by giving a clear mandate to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assembly elections.
He said that people have put an end to "short-cut" politics of Kejriwal and removed a "major obstacle" in the way of Delhi's development.

"Delhi's mandate also clarified that there is no place for shortcuts or lies and deception in politics. Janata ne short cut rajneeti ka short circuit kar diya (People have short-circuited the politics of shortcut)," PM Modi said while addressing a gathering at the party's headquarters after the resounding victory in assembly polls.
<h3>BJP's Return to Power</h3>
BJP has won 48 seats, while AAP has won just 22 seats against 62 in the 2020 assembly polls.
The BJP is returning to power in the national capital after 27 years, ending over 10 years of Aam Aadmi Party rule.
Several AAP leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, ex-Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and three-time MLA Somnath Bharti, lost from their strongholds.
<h3>Criticism of AAP's Politics</h3>
The PM slammed the AAP's politics of "protests, confrontation, and administrative uncertainty."
"Today, you Delhiites have removed a major obstacle in the way of Delhi's development," PM Modi added
. Lashing out at AAP, he said, "The real owner of Delhi is only the people of Delhi. Those who thought of being the owners of Delhi have been confronted with the truth."
<h3>PM Modi on Anna Hazare</h3>
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Anna Hazare must have got some relief from pain following AAP's defeat in the Delhi Assembly election. He added that Hazare had been "bearing the pain of the misdeeds of these people for a long time."
Earlier in the day, Anna Hazare had criticised AAP for their alleged involvement in controversies surrounding liquor and money.
PM Modi said AAP was born out of the movement against corruption but became deeply involved in it.
"The party born out of the movement against corruption got involved in corruption. It became such a party of the country whose Chief Minister and Ministers went to jail on corruption charges. Those who used to give themselves certificates of honesty turned out to be corrupt. This was a big betrayal with Delhi," PM Modi said.

PM Modi further attacked AAP, stating that the liquor scam had defamed Delhi. "The scams in schools and hospitals troubled the poorest of the poor, and on top of that, their arrogance was so much that when the world was dealing with Corona, these people were building 'Sheesh Mahal'."
Earlier, Anna Hazare had said that AAP did not understand the importance of character in politics, which led to their downfall.

"These AAP-da people resorted to conspiracies every day to hide their scams. Now, the Delhi poll verdict has come. I am giving a guarantee that in the first session of the assembly, the CAG report will be tabled. Every link of corruption will be probed, and whoever has looted will have to return it," he said.
Targeting AAP leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, PM Modi said that those who gave certificates to others are now facing allegations of corruption.
The BJP has also been taking "Sheeshmahal" jibes at Kejriwal. In his speech, PM Modi thanked the people of Delhi for their support and reiterated their relief at making the national capital "AAP-da free."
<h3>BJP's Future Commitments</h3>
Meanwhile, BJP leader Parvesh Verma said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will work to fulfill its commitments to the people of Delhi, with setting up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe corruption under the Aam Aadmi Party government among its top priorities.

"At one point in time, the law and order problem remained in Uttar Pradesh. The major challenge was for women. Dimaagi bukhaar (encephalitis) wreaked havoc. However, we worked with determination to resolve it," PM Modi said.

The Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch has served a legal notice to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, seeking evidence for his allegations of BJP attempting to bribe party candidates before the Delhi Assembly election results.

The Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Friday served a legal notice to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, seeking details and evidence regarding his allegations that the BJP attempted to bribe his party candidates ahead of the Delhi Assembly election results.&nbsp;
The legal notice comes just a day before the counting of votes is scheduled to take place for the Delhi Assembly elections held on February 5.&nbsp;
The notice, delivered at Kejriwal&rsquo;s 5, Ferozeshah Road residence, has intensified the political tensions between AAP and the BJP, with the former calling it a politically motivated move.&nbsp;
The ACB&rsquo;s notice specifically refers to a post on X by Kejriwal accusing the BJP of offering bribes to 16 AAP candidates to switch sides.&nbsp;

The notice asks Kejriwal to confirm whether the tweet was made by him and provide detailed information on the alleged poaching attempts.&nbsp;
It also seeks the names of the 16 candidates who received phone calls, the phone numbers of those who contacted them and any supporting evidence to substantiate these claims.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Provide the evidence and proof to support the claim/allegations of the offer of a bribe levelled by you and your party members on various media/social media platforms,&rdquo; the ACB notice reads.&nbsp;
The notice also warns of potential legal action, asking Kejriwal to explain why those spreading such allegations should not be prosecuted for creating &ldquo;panic and unrest&rdquo; among the people of Delhi.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Explain as to why an appropriate legal action should not be taken against the persons spreading such information on media/social media platforms, which is tantamount to creating panic and unrest situations amongst the people of Delhi,&rdquo; the notice reads.&nbsp;
Earlier, high drama unfolded as AAP strongly criticised the ACB&rsquo;s action, calling it an attempt to intimidate the party ahead of the election results.&nbsp;
AAP&rsquo;s legal cell chief Sanjeev Nasiar alleged that the ACB initially had no legal notice and was sitting outside Kejriwal&rsquo;s house without clarity on their purpose.&nbsp;
&ldquo;They did not have any legal notice at first. After one-and-a-half hours, they served us with a notice. This drama is orchestrated by the LG office in collusion with the BJP. The officers were under pressure,&rdquo; Nasiar claimed.&nbsp;
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh backed these allegations, stating that more than 16 AAP candidates had been approached by unidentified individuals attempting to lure them away from the party.&nbsp;
&ldquo;We have already released the phone number of one such instance and are now filing a complaint. I challenge the BJP to take action against at least one of them,&rdquo; Singh said.&nbsp;
The BJP, however, dismissed AAP&rsquo;s accusations, labelling them as baseless and an attempt to deflect attention from the party&rsquo;s internal troubles.&nbsp;
The controversy erupted after Delhi BJP general secretary Vishnu Mittal submitted a representation to Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, urging action against AAP for allegedly spreading misinformation about poaching attempts.

"Some agencies are showing that the abusive party (BJP) is getting more than 55 seats. In the last two hours, 16 of our candidates have received calls that if they leave AAP and join their party, they will be made ministers and given Rs 15 crore each," Mr. Kejriwal wrote in Hindi.
He also cast doubt on the exit polls predicting a BJP victory.
"If they are indeed winning more than 55 seats, why are they calling up our candidates? These fake surveys are a conspiracy to create an atmosphere to break AAP candidates. But not a single one of them will switch sides," he added.
Delhi Chief Minister and AAP candidate from Kalkaji, Atishi, also spoke out against the alleged attempts to poach candidates, questioning the BJP&rsquo;s confidence.

Atishi further claimed that exit polls predicting a BJP win were manipulated to "demoralise AAP candidates and create an atmosphere where defections could be encouraged."

<h3>BJP dismisses claims, warns of legal action</h3>
Denying the allegations, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accused the AAP of fabricating claims out of &ldquo;frustration&rdquo; over an impending loss.
&ldquo;Sanjay Singh should either retract his allegations and tender an apology or face legal action,&rdquo; Sachdeva said.
&ldquo;He should not forget that his party leader, (former) Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, is already facing a defamation case for making similar false allegations.&rdquo;
Singh, however, insisted that AAP has advised its candidates to record such calls and use spy cameras to document any poaching attempts.

Several exit polls on Wednesday predicted a victory for the BJP over the ruling AAP in the Delhi assembly polls, while the Congress was projected to make no significant gains from last elections.&nbsp;
Two exit polls, however, predicted a victory for the Aam Admi Party (AAP), and as many showed a close contest between them, with an edge for the BJP.
The Election Commission will announce the official results after the counting of on February 8.&nbsp;
Exit polls are projections made by election survey agencies based on interviews of voters as they come out after casting their votes. These may vary widely from the actual results. In the 2020 Delhi polls, most exit polls got their predictions wrong.&nbsp;
Among the exit polls that predicted a BJP victory, the People's Pulse showed the NDA was likely to get 51 to 60 seats, while the AAP may get 10-19 seats. The Congress, it claimed, will not be able to open its account.
According to People's Insight exit poll, the NDA is likely to get 40 to 44 seats, the AAP 25 to 29 seats, and the Congress 0-1 seat.&nbsp;
The P-Marq exit poll predicted 39-49 seats for the BJP and its allies, 21-31 seats for AAP and 0-1 for the Congress.&nbsp;
The JVC exit poll said the BJP and allies would get 39-45, the AAP 22-31 seats and the Congress 0-2. Similarly, the Poll Diary predicted 42-50 seats of the BJP and allies, while giving the AAP 18-25 seats, 0-2 for the Congress and 0-1 for others.&nbsp;
Chankya Strategies exit poll said the BJP and allies are likely to get 39-44 seats, the AAP is likely to get 25-28, while Congress may get 2-3.&nbsp;
Two surveys predicted AAP's victory - Wee Preside, which gave 46-52 sets for AAP, 18-23 for BJP and 0-1 for Congress, and Mind Brink Media predicted 44-49 seats for AAP, 21-25 for BJP and 0-1 for the Congress.&nbsp;
Matrize exit poll predicted a close contest, giving the BJP led NDA 35-40 seats, while the AAP was said to get 32 to 37 seats. The survey gave Congress 0-1 seats.&nbsp;
The DV Research exit polls predicted 26-34 seats for the AAP, and 36-44 for the BJP and allies, giving zero seats to the Congress.&nbsp;
In the 70 member Delhi assembly, 36 is the majority mark. The AAP currently has 62 MLAs, the BJP has eight, and the Congress none. The Delhi assembly polls were held on Wednesday, and results would be declared on February 8.&nbsp;
There are 1.55 crore voters in Delhi, out of which nearly 58 percent exercised their franchiese till 5 pm on Wednesday. Several AAP leaders rejected the exit polls, while BJP leaders said they are confident of their victory.

Voting in the Delhi Assembly elections concluded on Wednesday at 6 pm in all 11 districts of the National Capital Territory. A voter turnout of 57.70 per cent was recorded till 5 pm in the Delhi assembly polls, according to officials figures.
The polling in all the 70 constituencies began at 7 am.
According to Election Commission (EC) data, 57.70 per cent of the electorate exercised their franchise till 5 pm.&nbsp;
The results of this three-way battle between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Congress are set to be announced on February 8, when the vote counting will take place.
There are around 1.56 crore eligible voters in Delhi. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the voter turnout of 57.70 per cent was recorded till 5 pm on Wednesday in the single-phase Delhi assembly elections.&nbsp;
The highest turnout was recorded in the Northeast district at 63.83 per cent, while the New Delhi district recorded the lowest at 54.37 per cent.
Among other constituencies, Mustafabad had the highest turnout at 66.68 per cent while Karol Bagh recorded the lowest at 47.40 per cent.
According to the ECI, the South West district recorded a turnout of 58.86 per cent, East 58.98 per cent, North 57.24 per cent, North West 58.05 per cent, Shahdara 61.35 per cent, South 55.72 per cent, Southeast 53.77 per cent, Central 55.24 per cent and West 57.42 per cent, as of 5 pm.

In the 2020 polls, Delhi had recorded a turnout of 62.59 per cent while only 56 per cent participated in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The AAP, which is seeking a third term, is facing a strong challenge from the BJP leaving no stone unturned to wrest back power.&nbsp;
The BJP's campaign, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, targeted Kejriwal over alleged issues with the Yamuna water and corruption.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held rallies, accusing AAP of "damaging" the infrastructure of Delhi.

Delhi has 1,56,14,000 registered voters, including 83,76,173 males, 72,36,560 females, and 1,267 third-gender voters.&nbsp;
The electorate also includes 2,39,905 first-time voters aged 18-19, 1,09,368 elderly voters aged 85 and above, and 79,885 persons with disabilities. Around 97,955 personnel and 8,715 volunteers have been deployed for the elections.&nbsp;
Security measures include 220 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), 19,000 Home Guards, and 35,626 Delhi Police personnel, ensuring peaceful polling.
Several key political leaders exercised their right to vote, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Hardeep Singh Puri, Virendraa Sachdeva, Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, Manish Sisodia, and many more.&nbsp;
Notable figures such as President Droupadi Murmu, CDS Anil Chauhan, former President Ram Nath Kovind, former Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, and advocate Kapil Sibal also participated in the voting process.

In his post on X, Kejriwal said, "In response to a complaint about the growing hooliganism, the Election Commission has filed a police case against the Chief Minister of Delhi. So now, the official stance of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission is - The 'work' of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission is to engage in hooliganism against the Aam Aadmi Party, provide protection to the BJP's hooliganism, and distribute liquor, money, and goods."&nbsp;
He further stated, "If anyone tries to stop them from doing this 'work,' a case will be filed against that person for obstructing the 'work' of the police and the Election Commission."
Atishi, in her response to the case, pointed out the lack of action against BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri, whose family members were reportedly involved in violations of the MCC.&nbsp;
She raised concerns about the ECI's actions, asking how far they would go in undermining the electoral process.&nbsp;

"The Election Commission is also amazing! Ramesh Bidhuri ji's family members are openly violating the code of conduct. No action is being taken against them. I filed a complaint and called the police and Election Commission, and they filed a case against me! Rajiv Kumar ji: How much will you ruin the electoral process?" the Delhi CM wrote on X.
The DCP South East Delhi, in a post on X, reported that Atishi was found violating the MCC on February 4 at 12:30 AM along with 50-70 people and 10 vehicles at Fateh Singh Marg.&nbsp;
The police instructed them to vacate the area, and a case was filed following a complaint by the Flying Squad Team (FST), under sections of the Representation of the People Act.
In another update, the DCP South East Delhi mentioned that AAP members Ashmit and Sagar Mehta had obstructed and assaulted a Head Constable who was documenting the gathering at Baba Fateh Singh Marg, Govindpuri.&nbsp;
The police officer, HC Kaushal Pal, was responding to the situation and began recording video when the altercation occurred. The DCP confirmed that an FIR has been registered under sections related to obstruction of public duty and assault while on duty, with further investigations ongoing.

Kejriwal further accused BJP of misleading people in slum areas, alleging, "BJP people are going to slums and saying that people from the Election Commission are coming to get your vote cast on the night before the elections. All of them are cheating and lying. The Election Commission does not come to your home to conduct voting."
Meanwhile, AAP&rsquo;s Manish Sisodia expressed confidence in the public&rsquo;s rejection of BJP's tactics, stating, "The public will answer BJP's hooliganism with their votes. Baba Saheb made the people (Public) the masters by creating a democratic system. Now BJP is threatening the people. They are threatening the workers and leaders of Aam Aadmi Party. In a separate address, Manish Sisodia, a senior leader from AAP, condemned BJP&rsquo;s alleged threats and claimed the public would reject these tactics through their votes.
"The public will answer BJP's hooliganism with their votes. Baba Saheb made the people masters by creating a democratic system. Now, BJP is threatening the public, but we are the disciples of Baba Saheb and Bhagat Singh. We are not afraid of their tactics," Sisodia said. He expressed confidence that the people of Delhi had made up their minds to elect Kejriwal as Chief Minister again.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate for New Delhi Assembly constituency, Parvesh Verma, made a bold prediction about the results. Verma stated that BJP would win by a significant margin, claiming that Kejriwal would lose his deposit and finish in third place.&nbsp;
"We will win by a margin of over 20,000 votes, possibly even 25,000-26,000. Kejriwal will lose his deposit here and come in third," Verma declared.
Earlier, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey also suggested that Kejriwal would lose in the New Delhi constituency, citing the Delhi Police's control over his "goons." He pointed out that the Union Budget had provisions benefiting Purvanchali people, who he believed were now leaning toward the BJP.&nbsp;
"Delhi Police has controlled his (Kejriwal's) goons. Purvanchalis feel safer with the BJP, and this has resulted in the loss of AAP's vote bank. Kejriwal will lose here," Dubey claimed.
BJP leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal also targeted AAP, claiming that the people of Delhi would reject their false promises. He emphasized that the BJP's focus on development and welfare would deliver a good government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
"The people of Delhi will be free from fake promises and will have a credible government led by PM Modi, which focuses on public welfare. Delhi residents are eager to elect a double-engine government under BJP's leadership. The BJP victory seems almost certain now, especially after the Prime Minister's budget gift to the middle class, which has relieved them of the tax burden," Goyal stated.
The Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 5, with the results to be announced on February 8.

At a public rally in RK Puram, Delhi, on Sunday, the Prime Minister spoke about the upcoming "new spring of development" in the city with the arrival of a BJP-led government.&nbsp;
"In a few days, a new spring of development will arrive in Delhi. This time, the BJP government is about to form in Delhi. The 'AAP-da party' has wasted 11 years. My biggest request is that we should be given a chance to serve the people of Delhi. I promise to go to any length to remove every difficulty you face. A double-engine government will come to Delhi that will make the lives of every poor and middle-class family prosperous," he added.
PM Modi also promised several initiatives for Delhi&rsquo;s residents, including Rs 5 nutritious meals for slum dwellers, the creation of a welfare board for auto drivers and domestic workers, and continued support for existing welfare schemes.&nbsp;

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday accused the Election Commission of surrendering to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).&nbsp;
In a press conference, Kejriwal reiterated his earlier allegations against Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, claiming that Kumar is "seeking a post-retirement position" and accusing him of "destroying the country" for personal gain.&nbsp;
Kejriwal urged Kumar to fulfill his responsibilities and relinquish his "desire" for a post.

These comments came after the AAP accused BJP of attacking and vandalizing their campaign van, with the assault allegedly taking place in the presence of Delhi police, who the AAP claimed failed to provide adequate protection.&nbsp;
During the press conference, AAP leaders Priyanka Kakkar and Jasmine Shah identified two individuals, Rohit Tyagi and Shanky, as the suspects in the attack and showed a video of the incident.
"BJP goons attacked and vandalized AAP's campaign van at New Delhi Assembly. The two BJP goons, Rohit Tyagi and Shanky, who are seen attacking in the video&hellip;" Jasmine Shah said.&nbsp;
Kakkar added that on January 18, the same individuals had thrown stones at Arvind Kejriwal, saying, &ldquo;If the police had taken action against these goons, they would not have dared to attack AAP's campaign vehicle today. The people of Delhi are watching everything, and they will press the broom button with such force that Amit Shah will get a direct electric shock.&rdquo;
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), AAP further claimed that BJP candidate Parvesh Verma's supporters had broken the light on one of their vans in the R K Ashram area.
"While this was happening, Delhi Police was also present, but they did not even bother to stop the BJP goons," the party said.
The Delhi Assembly elections are set to take place in a single phase on February 5, with the vote counting scheduled for February 8. In the 2020 elections, AAP won 62 seats, while BJP secured the remaining eight.
