Just a week before the November 3 elections, US secretary of state Mike Pompeo has landed in India India for crucial talks. Defence secretary&nbsp;Mark Esper is also travelling with&nbsp;Pompeo. On Tuesday, the officials will meet defence minister Rajnath Singh and foreign minister S Jaishankar for the India-US 2+2 dialogue. This will be the third India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue. They will also be meeting NSA Ajit Doval and will jointly call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Pompeo will also visit Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Indonesia to engage the countries in discussions on how free nations can work together to thwart threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party.

Captain points to difference in Hathras & Hoshiarpur, defends Gandhis

Dubbing their remarks as &lsquo;political puffery&rsquo; with no substance or basis to support their criticism,&nbsp;Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Saturday hit out at BJP leaders Nirmala Sitharaman and Prakash Javadekar for their comments over the Hoshiarpur rape-murder case. Defending Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, Captain said&nbsp;pointed out that in the&nbsp;Hathras&nbsp;case, the Uttar Pradesh government and police &ldquo;did not only fail&rdquo; to initiate stern action but in fact was seemingly &ldquo;trying to cover up&rdquo; the matter to benefit the upper-caste accused.&nbsp;This, he said, was in sharp contrast to the prompt action taken by the Punjab Police, who immediately arrested the accused and is now preparing to file the challan within a week.&nbsp;The BJP attacked the Congress on Saturday over alleged rape and killing of a six-year-old girl in Hoshiarpur, as it asked&nbsp;Gandhi duo&nbsp;why had they not paid a visit to the family of the victim yet.&nbsp;The CM, in a statement, said he himself had directed the director general of police to ensure that the case is fast-tracked by the courts to ensure strict and exemplary action for the accused.&nbsp; &nbsp;

2 friends cover 400 km of swollen Brahmaputra on self-created raft

Rishan Doley and Shekhar Bordoloi, 2 friends covered a 400 km distance on the swollen Brahmaputra&nbsp;in a self-made bamboo raft to promote water sports and rafting.

Two adventure enthusiasts in Assam did what many would be wary of doing on the swollen Brahmaputra amid the floods.
Rishan Doley and Shekhar Bordoloi rowed a bamboo raft, from Majuli, the world's largest river island to Umananda&nbsp;island, the world's smallest inhabited river island near Guwahati. The approximately 400 km distance took the duo 8 days to complete.
The aim of the thrilling experience was to highlight the potential for water sports and rafting in Assam. It took them a week to build the 25-feet-long, 17-feet wide bamboo raft, using 170 bamboo shoots and named it Sibuk.

The journey was not smooth for the two friends, when they experienced whirlpools and harsh winds. They were equipped with an LPG cylinder, a stove, a mini generator among other essentials.

Wuhan fans attend 1st Chinese Super League match 

This is for the first time that residents from Wuhan&nbsp;were allowed to attend the Chinese Super League matches&nbsp;

Fans of Wuhan Zall, the&nbsp;Chinese Super League&nbsp;side which comes from the epicentre of the coronavirus&nbsp;were allowed to attend their team's game on Sunday. A few supporters travelled over 750 km to Suzhou&nbsp;to attend the game which their team drew 2-2 against&nbsp;title contenders Beijing Guoan. As Chinese Super League has now allowed local fans to watch the game in small numbers, this is for the first time that residents from Wuhan&nbsp;were allowed to attend the games. Rules remain strict, social distancing has to be followed as the fans must get a Covid-19 test a week leading&nbsp;up to the match.
