Movie theatres are opening&nbsp;in many states from Thursday, while religious gathering with restrictions are also now allowed. Some states have also decided to open schools in a graded manner in the next phase of the opening up of the country 7 months after Covid restrictions. The measures also come at a time when the country heads into winter, conditions in which the Covid is projected to last longer and infection is feared to get worse due to increased pollution. Most states are still playing it safe. While only 5 states have decided to open schools for classes 9-12 only, many states still have not given a go ahead to movie theatres.

Centre flags 5 states as India sees record Covid-19 surge    

As India sees a surge in Covid-19 cases the Centre has flagged 5 states that account for 62% of the total cases in the country.&nbsp;

The health ministry on Thursday said that Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu account for 62 per cent of active&nbsp;COVID-19&nbsp;cases in country.&nbsp;&nbsp;The ministry in its briefing on Thursday said that Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra account for 70 per cent of total COVID19 deaths in the country.&nbsp;However, Health secretary Rakesh Bhushan said that there has been a considerable decrease in the active cases in these states. In Andhra Pradesh,&nbsp;there has been a weekly decrease of 13.7 per cent, 16.1% decrease in Karnataka, 6.8% decrease in Maharashtra and 23.9% decrease in Tamil Nadu and 17.1% decrease in Uttar Pradesh.&nbsp;&nbsp;
