Amid concerns of spread of coronavirus among lawmakers, the Monsoon Session of Parliament is set&nbsp;to conclude today, eight days before it is scheduled to end.&nbsp;Rajya Sabha is likely to adjourn sine die after taking up five bills on Wednesday.&nbsp;The govt informed the Rajya&nbsp;Sabha&nbsp;chairman of its decision to cut short the session. Chairman Venkaiah&nbsp;Naidu&nbsp;said that he will take on adjourning the House sine die after listed legislative is completed.&nbsp;The Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla said, will meet at 6 pm on Wednesday instead of the usual 3 pm. The Lower House is set to be adjourned after taking up a few matters, including Zero Hour.

Sources said the Lower House will be adjourned after taking up a few matters, including Zero Hour.
The session which began on September 14, witnessed passage of several bills in both Houses, including those which sought to replace ordinances issued recently. The decision to curtail the session has been conveyed to floor leaders of parties in the lower house, the sources said.
The Monsoon Session was otherwise scheduled to end on October 1.
Several MPs, including a few ministers, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last few days.
On Monday, eight members of Rajya Sabha were suspended over their "unruly behaviour" during the passage of the two key farm bills on Sunday.
A number of opposition parties on Tuesday staged a walkout from Rajya Sabha and decided to boycott proceedings of the House till the suspension of the eight members is revoked, even as the government insisted on their apology.
In Lok Sabha too, various opposition parties, including the Congress and the TMC boycotted the House in solidarity with the suspended Rajya Sabha members.
Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said all opposition parties are boycotting Parliament in solidarity with the suspended Rajya Sabha members.
Opposition parties, including the Congress, the TMC, the BSP and the TRS, walked out of the Lok Sabha after Chowdhury's announcement.

Parliament starts today under strict Covid norms

Parliament is fully prepared for the 18-day Monsoon Session from Monday under the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic with many firsts, including sitting of the two Houses in shifts without any off day, entry only to those having a negative Covid-19 report and compulsory wearing of masks.&nbsp;In run-up to the session, while over 4,000 people including MPs and staff have been tested for virus, most parliamentary operations have been digitalized, entire premises&nbsp;sanitised&nbsp;and doors made touch-free.&nbsp;The first-of-its-kind Monsoon Session will see Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha sitting in two different shifts, while special seating arrangements have been made for MPs in adherence to social distancing guidelines.&nbsp;Barring on the first day, Rajya Sabha will convene in morning shift from 9 am till 1 pm, and Lok Sabha in evening shift from 3 pm to 7 pm. The chambers of both houses along with their respective galleries will be used for sitting of the members in each shift.&nbsp;In between the two shifts, the entire complex will be&nbsp;sanitised.&nbsp;Frequent&nbsp;sanitisation&nbsp;of the entire parliament complex will also be carried out, while arrangements have been made to&nbsp;sanitise&nbsp;various parliamentary papers as well as footwear and cars of MPs, officials said.&nbsp;Frisking of people will also make way for touch-less security scanning, while thermal scanning will also be totally touch-free.&nbsp;

No weekend breaks for MPs during Monsoon Session

MPs will not getting any weekend breaks during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. The session, slated to begin from September 14, will seen many changes due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic

Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will work in separate shifts and there will be special seating for MPs to ensure distancing. Lok Sabha will sit from 9 am to 1 pm on the first day and from 3 pm to 7 pm till October 1. Rajya Sabha will sit from 3 pm to 7 pm the first day and 9 am to 1 pm the rest of the days. Weekends will be working days. The session will end on October 1.
