The protesters worry that the bills will dismantle the current MSP system and leave the farmers at the mercy of big corporates. The centre has repeated assured the farmers that MSP will stay.

Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee has announced that the farmers will stage a 3-day rail roko agitation across Punjab from September 24 to 26 against the bills that have been passed by the Lok Sabha and will now be presented in the Rajya Sabha. The farmers fear that the legislations will end the minimum support price system, leaving them at the &lsquo;mercy&rsquo; of big corporates. The government, however, says that the bills will help farmers get a better price and market for their produce.
