Hyderabad beat Chennai 7 runs to win their 2nd game of IPL 2020

Riding on brilliant performances by the young guns, Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a nervy 7 run win over Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020. Batting first, Hyderabad managed 164/5 with a half-century from Under-19 skipper Priyam Garg. Abhishek Sharma supported with a superb 31 as Hyderabad put up an above-par total for Chennai to chase. In reply, Chennai were never in the game as they were off to a very poor start. The 3-time Champions had 3 down for 36 in 6 overs. Dhoni and Jadeja then put on 72 for the 5th wicket with Jadeja smashing his maiden IPL fifty. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 47 off 36 balls but couldn&rsquo;t get his team past the finish line as Hyderabad won by 7 runs.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Umpiring blunder costs Punjab the win, ignites a debate

Umpire Nitin&nbsp;Menon&nbsp;wrongly called a &lsquo;run short&rsquo; which forced the game to go into a super over.

While the 2nd game of the IPL gave us a thrilling super over finish but it also highlighted an umpiring blunder. India&rsquo;s Nitin Menon, who&nbsp;became the youngest ever to be inducted in ICC&rsquo;s Elite Panel of Umpires,&nbsp;called a &lsquo;run short&rsquo; when Chris Jordan took a couple of runs off Rabada in the 19th over.&nbsp; But TV replays clearly showed that&nbsp;Jordan legally completed the first run and the bat was inside the crease. If not for the blooper, Kings XI Punjab would have won the game without it going into a super over.&nbsp;ICC&nbsp;had recently decided that the TV umpires&nbsp;will take a call on the front-foot no ball and this blunder by Menon has&nbsp;ignited a twitter debate whether the same should&nbsp;happen in such situations as well. Punjab were robbed of a win and in such a closely-fought league,&nbsp;2 points can cost them a spot in the playoffs.
