The number of farm fires spotted from satellites rose from around 900 on Saturday to over 1,600 on Sunday. This has led to fears of further worsening of Delhi air which has gone from bad to worse over the last few days. According to Central Pollution Control Board data, the 24-hour average air quality index in Delhi stood at 349 on Sunday, which is in the "very poor" zone. Experts have warned that with dying wind and rising pollutants due to the farm fires, the Capital may be in for extreme pollution.

The national capital's air quality was recorded in the &ldquo;poor&rdquo; category on Thursday morning and it is likely to deteriorate further due to unfavourable meteorological conditions and spike in farm fires. Delhi recorded an air quality index (AQI) of 201 at 9 am, which falls in the poor category. Delhi's air quality had turned poor on Wednesday, the first time since June 29, with the Central Pollution Control Board recording a 24-hour average AQI of 215. PM10 levels in Delhi-NCR stood at 234 microgram per cubic metre (&micro;g/m3) on Wednesday evening, according to CPCB data, while PM2.5 levels were 93 &micro;g/m3. According to Punjab government data, 1,692 farm fires have been recorded in the state this season, Haryana reported 526 farm fires.

Indians spend almost 9 hours of their free time sleeping: study

A first-of-its kind survey done on Indians answers questions about what a typical 24-hour day looks like.&nbsp;
The main aim of the survey conducted by the&nbsp;National Statistical office was to assess the&nbsp;paid and&nbsp;unpaid activities both in rural and urban areas.
The results will help in policy assessment across various departments. The survey showed that in rural areas, males aged 6 years and older, spent an average of&nbsp;9.2 hours in sleep and &ldquo;related activities&rdquo;.&nbsp;While females spent&nbsp;557 minutes sleeping.
In urban areas, males spent 534 minutes in sleep and females spent&nbsp;552 minutes sleeping and in other related activities.&nbsp;
The survey was conducted between January and December of 2019.
