The Modi government has told the Supreme Court not to invest its time in examining the validity of Section 124A as it has decided to re-examine and reconsider the controversial Sedition Law.In an affidavit filed before the apex court, the government said that in tune with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to shed colonial baggage at a time when the nation is marking its 75th year of independence, the Centre has decided to reconsider various colonial laws.The affidavit noted that the government is fully aware of various views being expressed on the subject of sedition and has also considered the concerns of civil liberties and human rights, while remaining committed to maintain and protect the sovereignty and integrity of India.The affidavit was filed in response to a batch petitions challenging the constitutionality of the Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code which criminalises the offence of sedition. 
In July last year, the Supreme Court had questioned the Centre on whether the sedition law was needed 75 years after independence.The Apex Court is currently considering whether the matter should be referred to a Constitution Bench.

Mumbai Police summons Kangana & her sister Rangoli

Mumbai Police on Wednesday issued summons to Bollywood actor&nbsp;Kangana Ranaut &amp; her sister Rangoli Chandel&nbsp;after a local court in ordered them to register an FIR against the duo&nbsp;for allegedly promoting enmity between different communities and other charges.
According to ANI, Mumbai&nbsp;Police has asked Rangoli&nbsp;&amp;&nbsp;Kangana&nbsp;to appear before the investigating officer, on Oct 26 &amp; 27.

PTI,&nbsp;Mumbai:&nbsp;On the orders of a local court, Mumbai Police on Saturday registered an FIR against actor Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel for allegedly promoting enmity between different communities and other charges.
The Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate's court had ordered the police to investigate a complaint filed by Munawwar Ali Sayyed, a Bollywood casting director and fitness trainer, which referred to Ranaut's and her sister's tweets and other statements.
On the directions of the court, Bandra Police registered a First Information Report against Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel under IPC sections 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc.), 295A (deliberate acts hurting religious sentiments) and 124-A (sedition), a police official said.
According to Sayyed's lawyer, the complaint alleged that Ranaut has been defaming Bollywood for the last two months by calling it a "hub of nepotism", "favouritism", etc, through her tweets and television interviews.
She also tweeted "very objectionable" comments, which not only hurt his religious sentiments, but also the feelings of many artists and she was trying to divide artists on communal lines, the complainant said.
"Her sister, too, has made objectionable comments on social media to spread communal tension between two religious groups," he said.
Metropolitan magistrate Jaydeo Y Ghule said in the order on Friday that prima facie "cognisable offence" has been committed by the accused, and directed the police to initiate necessary action and investigation against the actor and her sister.
"Allegations are based upon the comments made on electronic media- Twitter and interviews- and a thorough investigation by an expert is necessary," the court said.
The complaint also referred to Ranaut's tweet where she referred to Mumbai as "POK" (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) and which led to her public spat with the ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.
