Team India head coach Rahul Dravid will not be going to the UAE with the Indian squad after testing positive for Covid-19. Dravid tested positive in a routine check ahead of the team's departure for the Asia Cup.

Dravid didn’t travel to Zimbabwe for the recently-concluded ODI series in Harare which the Men in Blue won 3-0.

In Dravid’s absence, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey will be the in-charge for now. There’s no clarity yet on whether VVS Laxman, who was appointed as the coach for the Zimbabwe tour, will join up with the first team or not.

Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that Dravid will join the team in the UAE once he returns a negative test.

India start their Asia Cup campaign on August 28 against arch-rivals Pakistan.
