‘Have to save the country’: Farmers vow to campaign against BJP in polls

Thousands of farmers, who gathered at Muzaffarnagar for a ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’, made it abundantly clear that they will campaign against the BJP in Uttar Pradesh for the 2022 assembly polls.

Samyukt Kisan Morcha, the organisers of the event said that the mahapanchayat will make the Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath governments realise the power of farmers, farm labourers, and supporters of the farm movement.

Bhartiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait said that the they had to ‘save the country from getting sold’. 

The farmers also declared an all-India strike, a bandh on September 27th.

The farmers have warned the Centre that they will continue to stage their agitation against the 3 farm laws till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections if their demands are not accepted.
