Sudarshan TV will not be able to air two episodes of its show ‘Bindas Bol’ after the Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed that airing of the episodes that the channel promoted as a ‘big expose on conspiracy to infiltrate Muslims in government services'. The two episodes of the show were to be aired on Tuesday and Wednesday. Terming it a 'rabid programme' 'without any factual basis', a three-judge SC bench observed that at this stage, prima facie it does appear the programme 'vilifies the Muslim community' while adjourning the matter to September 17. Asking can such programmes be allowed in a free society, the bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud, KM Joseph and Indu Malhotra said 'such insidious charges also put a question mark on the UPSC exams'. The bench told Sudarshan TV lawyer that his client is doing a 'disservice to the nation'. The apex court observed that revenue model of TV channels and their ownership patterns should be put in public domain on the website.
