Akshdeep & Priyanka win men's and women's 20km race walk gold, qualify for Worlds and Olympics

India's Akshdeep Singh & Priyanka Goswami qualified for the World Championships and the 2024 Paris Olympics after winning Gold in the 20km event on the opening day of the National Open Race Walking Championships.

Akshdeep Singh clinched the men's 20km event gold with a stunning national record time. The 22-year-old from Punjab clocked 1 hour 19 minutes and 55 seconds to break the earlier national record of 1:20:16. The qualification cutoff for Worlds & Olympics qualification was 1:20:10.

In the women's event where the cutoff was 1:29:20, national record holder Priyanka Goswami, who won the silver at 2022 Commonwealth Games, won Gold with a time of 1:28:50.
