Rishabh Pant's ligament tear that he suffered during the horrific car crash will, in all likelihood push him to the sidelines for a considerable time.

Team management and the selectors will now look to find the star Test wicketkeeper batter's apt replacement ahead of the  4-match Test series against Australia starting on 9th February.

As the wicketkeeper's slot is now up for grabs in the Test format, it will be interesting to see if Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson get a chance. However, what might work against them is that both refrained from keeping in Ranji Trophy for Kerala and Jharkhand respectively.

Apart from them, the selectors could also look at India A keepers KS Bharat and Upendra Yadav.
