As top Indian shuttlers were unwilling to comply with standard operating procedures prescribed by the Sports Authority of India, the Badminton Association was forced to cancel the national camp on Thursday. As per the SOPs, all the players selected for the camp had to stay at the academy in a bio-secure bubble. However, star shuttlers were reluctant to stay at the site of the camp and wanted to come to the academy from their homes. The camp was scheduled to begin from September 7 after top badminton stars including Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth expressed their willingness to travel to Denmark for the upcoming Thomas and Uber Cup Finals. BAI was due to pick the squad on September 17 but despite the camp being cancelled, a 20-member squad was announced on September 10.
