Opposition parties on Sunday moved a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh after he overruled their pleas for postponing Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar’s reply to the debate on the two farm bills till Monday as the scheduled sitting time of the House was over. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ahmad Patel said 12 parties have given a no-confidence motion notice against Deputy Chairman. Patel said Harivansh should safeguard the democratic traditions but instead his attitude harmed the democratic traditions and processes. Last week PM Modi had called Harivansh an able neutral umpire after he was re-elected to the post at the beginning of the Monsoon session.
