Shiv Sena MP Sanja Raut on Tuesday alleged that “top BJP leaders” had pressured him to topple the Maharashtra government, and threatened to impose President’s Rule in the state if he did not cooperate.

Addressing a news conference at the Sena Bhavan in Mumbai, Raut said the BJP is using Central agencies to topple Maharashtra government by targeting the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders and their family members.

He said that the Aghadi, comprising Sena, NCP and Congress, won’t “bow” before such pressure tactics.

Raut claimed he was contacted by some BJP leaders to shift allegiance and warned he would have to pay a price for not doing so.

He alleged that Enforcement Directorate started targeting people close to him as he refused to work with the BJP.

Last week, Sanjay Raut had written to Vice President Venkaiah Naidu claiming he was approached by “certain people” who asked him to assist in toppling the MVA government in Maharashtra so that the state could be forced into mid-term elections.
