The national capital's air quality was recorded in the “poor” category on Thursday morning and it is likely to deteriorate further due to unfavourable meteorological conditions and spike in farm fires. Delhi recorded an air quality index (AQI) of 201 at 9 am, which falls in the poor category.
Delhi's air quality had turned poor on Wednesday, the first time since June 29, with the Central Pollution Control Board recording a 24-hour average AQI of 215.
PM10 levels in Delhi-NCR stood at 234 microgram per cubic metre (µg/m3) on Wednesday evening, according to CPCB data, while PM2.5 levels were 93 µg/m3.
According to Punjab government data, 1,692 farm fires have been recorded in the state this season, Haryana reported 526 farm fires.
