Hours after Punjabi singer and politician Sidhu Moose Wala was killed, Punjab police hinted at a gang war angle and named the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar.

So, who are Bishnoi and Brar, and why did they target Moose Wala?

Satinder Singh, aka Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi are considered to be close associates. In 2021, a local Punjab court issued an open-ended non-bailable warrant against Brar in the murder case of Youth Congress leader Gurlal Singh Pehalwan.

Brar was also named in a double murder case in Gurugram, which was allegedly done to establish supremacy in the illegal liquor business. Just weeks before Moose Wala's murder, Punjab police's anti-gangster task force arrested 3 aides of Bishnoi and Brar who were allegedly planning to target a businessman for extortion.

In 2018, actor Salman Khan's security had been beefed up over information provided Haryana police's Special Task Force. The STF had claimed that a sharpshooter from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang named Sampat Nehra was planning to target Salman Khan.
