Queen funeral: President Droupadi Murmu pays respects to Elizabeth II ahead of last rites

The President of India on 18 September 2022 visited Westminster Hall in London where the body of Queen Elizabeth II is Lying-in-State. President Droupadi Murmu paid respects on India's behalf to the British Queen. Murmu also signed a condolence book at Lancaster House.

The President is in the United Kingdom on a three-day trip for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II which is to be held at Westminster Abbey on 19 September 2022. Ahead of the last rites, President Murmu is slated to attend a reception hosted by King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla at Buckingham Palace.

After the state funeral, a private burial ceremony will be held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. The Queen will be laid to rest in the chapel at Windsor Castle. Elizabeth, England's longest-reigning monarch, died on 8 September at the age of 96.
