If you are using an old iPhone you may soon not be able to access Whatsapp! iPhone users operating on an older iOS are rushing for an update as Apple notified it's users to "Update to the latest version of iOS to continue using WhatsApp." This update notification is meant for those users running iOS 10 and iOS 11, however this update may require an upgrade of the iPhone for some.

iPhone users still supporting the iPhone5 or iPhone 5C will now have to think of an upgrade as these models will not support an iOS upgrade required to run Whatsapp. Apple warned that WhatsApp will stop supporting this version of iOS after 24 Oct 2022.” It then advises: “Please go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update to get the latest iOS version."

Devices and software change often, so we regularly review what operating systems we support and make updates,’ WhatsApp explains in its support article.

‘To choose what to stop supporting, every year we, like other technology companies, look at which devices and software are the oldest and have the fewest number of people still using them.

‘These devices also might not have the latest security updates, or might lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp.’
