iQOO has confirmed that its next flagship, the iQOO 16, will launch in India. The announcement was made at India Mobile Congress 2026 in New Delhi, where the brand also confirmed the phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset.

The iQOO 16 will be one of the first smartphones to use Qualcomm’s top-end new mobile platform. It will also be the first iQOO device to ship with OriginOS 7 out of the box, marking a significant software shift for the brand’s India lineup.

A new 2nm flagship chip

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is built on a 2nm process and sits at the top of Qualcomm’s latest flagship mobile portfolio. Qualcomm is pitching it around improved performance, power efficiency, AI processing, gaming and imaging capabilities.

For iQOO, that chip choice is hardly surprising. The brand has built its flagship identity around high benchmark numbers, gaming performance and aggressive hardware. While iQOO has not yet shared specific CPU, GPU or benchmark figures for the iQOO 16, the new platform should put it firmly in the next generation of Android flagships.

The chipset also includes Qualcomm’s next-generation Hexagon NPU, which is expected to handle more AI tasks directly on the phone. That could translate to faster AI-assisted features, camera processing and more context-aware software tools, though iQOO has not detailed the exact features it plans to offer.

OriginOS 7 comes to an iQOO phone

The iQOO 16 will be the first iQOO smartphone to run OriginOS 7 out of the box. iQOO says the new software will focus on a smoother, more intuitive and productivity-oriented experience, with intelligent features designed to improve daily interactions.

This is an important development for iQOO users in India, as software experience has increasingly become as important as raw specifications in the premium segment. The company has not yet outlined the exact changes OriginOS 7 will bring to the Indian version of the iQOO 16, including its approach to pre-installed apps, AI features or the software update policy.

Those details will matter, especially since the flagship segment is now as much about long-term software support as it is about performance.

Key specifications are yet to be revealed

iQOO has not revealed the iQOO 16’s display, camera hardware, battery capacity, charging speed, memory variants or India pricing. It has also not announced a specific launch date.

For now, the confirmation establishes the iQOO 16 as a major upcoming flagship for India, with Qualcomm’s most advanced new mobile platform and a fresh software experience at its core. The full picture will emerge closer to the phone’s official launch.
