World Cup winner Mesut Ozil announces retirement from football

German footballer Mesut Ozil has announced his retirement from football at the age of 34.

Ozil, who won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Germany, made 92 appearances for the national side.

The 34-year-old won 9 trophies during his club career, including a La Liga title with Real Madrid & four FA Cups with Arsenal.

Having started his club career at Schalke 04, Ozil last represented Istanbul Basaksehir but only made four appearances there.
