Even though Palestine aren't competing at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the red, green, white, and black colours of the Palestinian flag have become a common sight on the streets of Doha, or at stadiums.

Fans from different countries supporting different teams have expressed their support for the Palestinian people by wearing the tiny state’s national flag as a mantle on top of their teams’ jerseys.

The fans have taken advantage of the global reach of football during the FIFA World Cup, which is being held for the first time in an Arab country. They have used the tournament to raise awareness and make a peaceful political statement concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Qatar has been vocal about the Palestinian cause often at the international level.

And it's not just the fans, but even the Moroccan team players, the first African nation to ever reach the semi-finals, held a Palestinian flag after winning their match against Spain.
